I can accept Gordon backing down, but him being all "that's ok Barabara" afterwards, now that's pushing it.

I really hope Barbara is better written in the latter half of the season.

Not my favourite but actually better than expected.
The Black Mask is not one of my favourites from the Rogue Gallery and I'm not fond of these Fight Club type of episodes that nearly every genre show seems to do nowadays but this one worked a little better than expected. The scenes with Gordon and Sionis were pretty great actually and I liked that both Bullock and Essen had his back properly this week. Businessmen being caged up and then fighting each other. Certainly took the cutthroat that extra mile. Bullock's speech about Gordon was priceless. I'm really liking him a lot. Fantastic that Edward got more screentime and I enjoyed the Oswald and Fish bits as well. Selina's reappearance was a little unexpected but it was fine enough. Alfred encouraging Bruce to beat up Tommy - not too sure how I feel about that one really. Bored of Barbara at this point. Unless the writers give her something interesting to do, she can stay gone. More of Oswald's mother please, 7/10 |

Definitely a mixed bag:
Good riddance to Barbara. He sends her away to protect her, she comes back all "I don't need protecting, my place is by your side, let me share your load, your fight is my fight", then is all mardy when he has to do his job, gets drunk and all "where were you, protect me, oh pleeeeze protect me", then skips out cos he hung up on her. Sheesh. Make your mind up luv. I comic book history stuff spoiler
Spoiler
Alfred offering to teach Bruce to fight - I so wish he'd said "No, I won't teach you to fight, but I know a man who can" as this would have mirrored the Bruce learns skills from many masters comic history stuff. Also in future eps we could have had Alfred bring in other masters of other skills. QED. And as for the Office fights. I don't know why but at the beginning with the first fight I really thought Penguin was one of the guys and having his fingers bitten off was a way of turning his hand into a more flipper like shape. Even when he was meeting with Fish I still thought this.

Re. your comic-book spoiler:
Spoiler
Of course, comic-book history is generally ****, as so many things get retconned. |

Alfred still could. It could be that Alfred met some unsavory types back in the day including the League of Assassins.

This season remains one I will watch until the end but one I won't know for sure if I like until I know where the heck they are going with it all. |

which ep revealed this ? If you're talking about comicbook Montoya then just cos she is there doesn't mean she'll be that way on tv.

Barbara is working for Falcone. This is the only rational explanation for her behaviour...

Better than last week but I don't know if the episode justified being named after Dent seeing as he was only in about four scenes altogther.
While I do think they could've held the character off until the second half of the season, Harvey has potential and there was a good rapport with him, Gordon, Renee and Crispus in this episode. It was also nice that we got a glimmer of his dark side during his dealings with LoveCraft as well, even if they went a little overbaord with the Two Face symbolism at times. The bomber plot was interesting but mainly because of the end result with Arkham. Personally, I don't think this episode actually needed Fish. Oswald figuring out that Liza was working for Fish wasn't really clever but it's nice to see him continuing to gain something of an upper hand. The Bruce and Selina scenes (with/without Alfred) were brilliant. Great rapport with the two of them. Barbara and Renee, I knew it was coming but I thought it would be later in the season though, 8/10 |

Barbara:
"Jim, I love you and trust you 100% and know that you would never lie to me or keep anything secret unless you had to, and I know 100% you would never kill anyone." ... "TELL ME IF YOU KILLED OSWALD!!!!!!!" ... "Jim, I know you're in danger, and therefore I am too, but I love you so much I am willing to risk my life by returning to Gotham to plead for your life with Don Falcone." ... "That's it Jim, I've had enough of the danger and everything else, I'm going back to my ex-girlfriend!' |

She is another weak link on the show. Way too violent in an unsubtle way. |

LilMisCamCam (Camren) is doing a decent job with Selina, think it's her first acting role. Great dancer if you have seen her videos.
Happy! |

Yep, she really is poorly written. One of the few weak points of the show, along with the timeline problem.

Well there's nothing in this show that is subtle, least of all the violence. Fish isn't out of the ordinary in that regard.

I think it was a mistake to bring in so many known batman villains into the show (there's an original opinion for you haha) it becomes a Easter egg hunt, and that's not necessarily a bad thing if its spread out and subtle but the way they have thrown so many in at once distracts from the actual drama of the show.
It would of been better if they created new villain's for the audience to be entertained by, and just have Falcone and the penguin as they do fit in with the show and timeline, where introducing cat and two face etc just doesn't seem right. |
