I think it was a mistake to bring in so many known batman villains into the show (there's an original opinion for you haha) it becomes a Easter egg hunt, and that's not necessarily a bad thing if its spread out and subtle but the way they have thrown so many in at once distracts from the actual drama of the show.

It would of been better if they created new villain's for the audience to be entertained by, and just have Falcone and the penguin as they do fit in with the show and timeline, where introducing cat and two face etc just doesn't seem right.
Yes I agree. Far too many. It just seems more like name dropping, than necessity.

Having the Proto Riddler on the team is too early.

They also need to get rid of Fish ASAP.

If they give us a time-jump at the end of the season then everything could fall into place quite nicely, though they may not like having to recast all the youngsters.

Haha

This does in a funny exaggerated way sum up the problem with the show, its a whole lot of teasing and tipping its hat to cooler things that the show wont be doing because its set before it, which takes away from the show we are watching.

The way Selina was clasping that bottle of milk...hmmm...wonder what they're trying to tell me...

In other news, Barbara knew how to spell Victor Zsasz's name. COINCIDENCE?!?!?!

A few time jumps between seasons and even between first and second halfs of the seasons would probably help the show a bit.

Maybe she's familiar with the books of Thomas Szasz, the real person whose odd last name probably inspired the comic book people in the first place.

Brilliant episode. Not to fall into the shipping category but all the Bruce/Selina scenes worked a treat. Great actors, great dialogue and character moments throughout the episode.

I liked both of them helping each other and surprising/outsmarting the other as well. Oh and that brief scene with Ivy. Man, is that girl scary or what?

Surprised they kissed though at the end. I wonder if they will interact in the second half of the season.

Alfred was all kinds of bad ass in this episode. I actually liked him and Bullock as a team and him threatening Butch and charming Fish was interesting too. No doubt Fish will cash in her kindness at some point too.

Much as I enjoy Oswald, I'm actually glad he was relegated to two scenes this week. He just about managed to get Falcone off his back and sparing Liza was probably smart too. Loved the dinner scene with Falcone, Fish and the other mobsters too.

Gordon being sent to Arkham wasn't something I expect. Disappointed that Dent was spineless, really want the Mayor to die a horrible death and that Nygma hug was pretty awkward too.

A great mid-season finale episode, helped by no Barbara as well, 8/10

I totally agree, especially the Bruce & Selina scenes were brilliantly played both the young actors.

Loving this show more & more!

Hopefully the second half will better flesh out certain characters though. Barbara being the obvious case in point.

I meant her being better written as something more than a generic love interest.

Though Barbara could die though.

I can't see Barb and Jim getting back together, especially if he finds out she jumped into bed with her ex five minutes after leaving him.

Really hope they're going somewhere with Lovecraft's 'masters'. Court of Owls maybe?

I recently saw 'Olive Kitteridge' (with Frances McDormand, Bill Murray), and Cory Michael Smith (Ed Nygma) was in it. I thought he was quite good, so I hope he's given some proper material to work with instead of just popping up with riddles etc.

Yeah. So much for leaving town to sort things out in her head.

If the writers can turn her around then yay, but at the mo I'm really not liking her character.

Unless there are pictures. All men love a lesbianarium.

She should be a lot better than she actually is, character wise.

Yes. Episode 10 was the mid-season finale. Episode 11 airs after the New Year. And, the promos look interesting.

Spoiler

Here's a review of Episode 1 that's interesting in retrospect:

Just about to watch the new episode. However I watched a review and some interesting points were made. I have said before that the difficulty with this is that Batman as we know him as an adult will have met all the supervillains as a kid. I just watched the Dark Knight and just think if he had known the Joker as a kid.

There is a part in this episode where Ivy and Selina go to Gordon's house and the 2 reviewers initially thought it was Bruce's house and queried this as silly if this had happened. To get over this they said the producers may have to time jump to have the villains morph into teenagers and for Bruce to go off training.

These are fundamental problems with this show. The reviewers said that the ratings were ok but that if they start to slide Fox may ask for a change and a time jump might be the answer. I just think it will be very difficult to sustain this show over multiple long seasons.

Great episode, good return and the Arkham stuff was brilliant.

I liked that we were meant to think it was poor Dorothy causing those attacks only for Gruber to emerge as the true baddie and escape from Arkham.

Leslie got a great introduction and there's immediately more chemistry with her and Gordon than there is with the latter and Barbara.

Barbara has not improved over the break. Even Renee doesn't want to be around her and Ivy was able to wind her up pretty easily.

I did like the Selina and Ivy plot, even though the episode didn't strictly need it. Missed Bruce and Alfred this week though and Nygma too of course.

Bullock's delight upon seeing Oswald in a cell and being reunited with Gordon was fantastic.

Oswald is a great character but I'm glad Maroni made an example of him this week.

Fish must have some sway if Butch is more than happy to betray and kill one of his oldest friends for her loyalty, 8/10

I agree there is more chemistry between Gordon and Leslie, than between him and Barbara.

Her character is all wrong. Personally I think she should have been written as a debutant type, or rich girl, and introduced a bit later once we'd gotten to know Gordon a bit more. There really was no need for the lesbian angle (unless this is part of her back story in the mythos).

The show still doesn't feel like a proto Batman show to me.

Also not keen on seeing some of Batman's villains as children, it feels too much like a children's show when they do that.
