Good start to the Mad Hatter storyline. Jervis certainly was creepy in this episode and I did enjoy his scenes with everyone in this episode. Odd humourous when he hypnotised Babs though and she got a little violent again.

Gordon never really thinks anything through but at least Alice was there to help him this time. I liked Alice although her powers seemed somewhat Ivy-ish, right?

Selina ended up with Five/Clone Bruce at the end of the episode. It really did not take long for the clone's true intention to play out, did it?

Nice to have Leslie back into the mix. Interesting that she's marrying Falcone's son and I did like the scenes with the three of them at dinner.

Oswald running for Mayor is brilliant and I liked that he sprung Nygma from Arkham too, 8/10

Great episode, loved the Oswald and Nygma scenes. It's like they've become this show's version of Harley and Ivy and Butch himself certainly seems put out by Edward's influence on his boss.

I'm not surprised people would vote for Oswald considering how useless Aubrey James is in the role though. The nods to the current presidential election is amusing too.

Shame Alice had to die in this episode as I really liked the character but having her blood infect Barnes might actually lead to something interesting happening with the guy for once, one can hope.

Jervis and Jim's battle of wits was pretty good in this one. I liked that Leslie was the one to get Gordon to snap out of it.

Nice stuff with Five/Selina/Bruce/Court of Owls in this one too, 7/10

I'm enjoying this season very much so far. The Alice stuff was more darkness.

I too love the Edward/Oswald bromance. So sweet.

Bit of a twisty episode. Both Butch and Nygma resorted to backstabbing and secret plans to impress Oswald but in the end, it was Nygma who came out on top.

They seem to be upping the slash content a little between Oswald and Nygma but I don't actually think the show would contemplate going there to be honest.

Red Hood Gang were used well enough second time around and I liked seeing Zsasz back and the chaos taking place in the nightclub.

Tabitha going to rescue Butch was oddly sweet though and Barnes is starting to get a little interesting-ish.

Loved Leslie and Lucius putting Nygma in his place and there was some great scenes with Bruce/Selina, Bruce/Gordon and Selina/Ivy as well, 8/10.

I've not seen queerbaiting this blatant since Mulan saved Aurora's heart on Once Upon A Time.

I am loving this season. They upped the darkness and the daftness and are weaving them together very well.

I think we all did?

Is anyone else getting tired of the on/off romance between Bruce and Selina?

Why on earth do they insist on shoehorning Barbra into nearly every episode? the character serves no purpose anymore she just stands around laughing, grinning and acting 'crazy' its a bit boring tbh. It's like the show runners just don't want to let go of the actress.

Well yes, there might be a good reason for that!

Well I've spent the last few weeks playing catchup with Gotham; wish I had watched it from the get-go. Loving it! Am curious how much the show follows the comics though; does all (of what's happening to known characters) happen in the comics, or is this all an interpretation from the writers (that are doing an outstanding job)?

From what little I know, I don't remember Barbara ever being crazy. I don't ever remember The Riddler or Penguin being so pally either...

I hope also that the Bruce Clone storyline doesn't drag on too much. I further hope that those around Bruce (Alfred, Gordon, Selena) don't get easily fooled by fake Bruce. I can see that coming a mile off, and it'll just seem too tacky/obvious. I'm amazed too that Fake Bruce managed to mimic Bruce's hair style almost to perfection, merely with a pair of scissors.

I too love the Edward/Oswald bromance. So sweet.

I must confess, I thought they were going to go down this road, just before they hugged I wasn't sure. Didn't think any of the Gotham villains (from the comics) were Gay/Bi.. Then again, aside from Joker, I guess none of them (as far as I know) have ever had any significance in romance stories.

Don't get bogged down in worrying about the comics ccontinuity compared to the 'Gotham' one. It's a completely different version. You might as well think of it as one of DC's alternate Earths. 'Earth G', perhaps?

I can do that. I guess the writers are quite literally just using the names and characters then? I did wonder the consequences of all Bruce's villains being older than him (when I don't remember them being so in the comics).

I still hope, when the show airs it's final episode, we get The Batman; even if it's just a bat signal in the sky or something. Would be nice to close on.

Batman will appear in the final scene (whenever that maybe).

I don't see the problem with them changing things seeing as the comics do it all the time. And I never thought age was such a big issue, seeing as past actors have been older than those playing Batman. I guess it's because Bruce is played by a teenager people notice it more, but by the time he plays Batman the villains won't be that old.

Haha I'm another one who thought that Edward and Oswald were going to get it on. Their scenes are being played out in a really homoeroctic way. I wonder if its foreshadowing? I wonder if they would go there. It would defo put a new twist on things.

I actually feel like they might? Which would be quite ground-breaking for a network superhero show. The fact that's pretty much just text and not subtext at this point (drawing air love hearts! Sharing lingering hugs in front of roaring fires whilst emotive violin music plays!) makes me think this is going 'canon'.

Obviously, I imagine we'd get the inevitable slew of moaning from certain quarters, but the chemistry is fantastic and it seems a fairly organic step so....yay Fox! (Not often words I utter...)

Well that was tedious.

I'm actually bored of the Mad Hatter now and having that tea party where Gordon had to choose between Leslie and Valerie was just boring even with the latter getting shot.

At some point, Babs is going to get more to do than just snark, right?

Barnes seems to be showing the effects of Alice's blood now. Good that Bullock picked up on it though.

Oswald loves Nygma, which is nice. Isabella is clearly a trap of some kind, 6/10

Somebody pointed out that she was very obviously styled up to look like Kim Novak from 'Vertigo', which might be a tip of the hand as to where they're going with her.

Also...they very much did go there. That is some impressive brass balls you have there, 'Gotham'.

Quite a few shows I'm watching seem to be throwing in the homosexual theme lately, not that I despise it providing it doesn't take away too much from the plot. I think the Ed & Oswald thing is one sided though, especially after watching the latest episode.

Whilst the scenario was laughable (in a bad way) it'll be interesting how the dynamic between Gordon and Lea plays out now.

At some point, Babs is going to get more to do than just snark, right?
I'm not convinced they know what to do with her, but they don't want to kill her off. Wont surprise me if she's written out at some point; especially if Tabitha bites a bullet.

I'm not convinced she's a trap, more a character introduced to split Ed & Oswald up. If Oswald is in love with Nygma, and Nygma falls in love with Isabella, then Oswald will try to get rid of her, which leaves Nygma and Oswald at opposite ends of the table (moving forward).

The cast actually did a panel recently at Paleyfest in New York and Barbara's actress Erin said that one of the things she has upcoming is...

That's a good shout, and I was about to bring up her age then remembered that this version of Gotham isn't quite consistant with the one we're mostly aware with. This is a story about Jim Gordon, not Bruce Wayne/Batman (although Bruce does have a part to play).

A bit dull this week, I thought.

James is too boring to base a whole episode around too often.

I missed Bat/Cat/Alfred.

And poor Penguin is about to have his heart broken again.
