Maybe early October if we're lucky then.

Have to say, I had a lot of reservations about Jada Pinkett Smith being in Gotham. But her Fish Mooney character is looking like one of the more interesting roles.

^btw: they could've called it Arkham Hospital as a nod to its original name in the comics then had the "name-change to Arkham Asylum" as a story-point at some point in the series.

I suppose they could've but they probably thought casual viewers might not be so familiar with it, so decided to stick with Arkham Asylum.

It maybe that Channel 5 wait untill they finish showing the current season of CSI and then replace it with Gotham which would mean that Gotham would start on Channel 5 around the end of October!
That might be sensible and allow them to capture some of the CSI procedural crowd and avoid the U.S. broadcast breaks so it would be a continuous. It would be slightly annoying waiting for it but then again this is a prequel series and we ultimately know the outcome

Channel 5 have a five minute preview for Gotham, tomorrow at 9pm before the launch of Celebrity Big Brother.

I hope that Channel 5 announce Gotham start date but knowing how that channel is run it properly won't be untill a few weeks before it starts!

I'm sticking with my theory about Gotham starting once CSI finishes but if it hasn't turned up on Channel 5 by the end of October then I will getting it from elsewhere!

So if you are right then Channel 5 wouldn't start showing Gotham untill mid November!

If that's the case, they'd almost be better leaving it til Janaury and airing the whole first season uninterrupted then.

Early November. November 4th to be precise. That's assuming CSI continues to play out at its current pace.

But two things:

1) It's not guaranteed that Gotham will play on Tuesdays. There has been speculation it might turn up on Sunday nights. Nothing can be ruled out.
2) Five could yet run double episodes of CSI on Tuesdays towards the end of its run to get to Gotham faster. They've been known to do this sort of thing before. In fact CSI New York was stripped Monday to Friday one week in its final season.

It certainly won't start as late as mid November anyway as it would hardly be worth showing 4 episodes only before an inevitable Christmas / New Year break. I expect the scheduling will be similar to The Mentalist with two blocks of episodes run as close to US transmission as possible.

Standard industry practice. It's not some tiny digital channel airing mostly repeats, they are a big 5 channel and there are reasons why they only reveal scheduling information a couple of weeks in advance.

A lot of unwarranted drama about C5 in here - some looking for excuses they consider valid to illegally download it no doubt - but their intentions are clear: Gotham will be their flagship drama this autumn and it will be treated accordingly. So fear not if you want to watch and actually support the show.

People concerns about Channel 5 are valid as they have a bad reputation for treating US shows badly as shown by their treatment of popular US shows like Sons Of Anarchy and Once Upon A Time!

I'm hoping that I'm wrong and Channel 5 show Gotham close to the US airdate but I don't have high hopes for it.I prefer to watch US on UK TV channels and I will only obtain them from elsewhere if the shows are not shown on UK TV channels or they don't show untill 6 months or more after the US airing!

Gotham is a show that I'm really looking forward to watching as a big Batman fan so I hope that Channel 5 treat it well!

I'm not sure one would call the US shows popular, otherwise 5 would not have dropped them. However it is true that the shows have been treated badly, as with some US networks, I don't see how they expect a show to gain an audience if it is always moved.

I meant that the shows are popular in the US but I can understand how you could misunderstand what I said. You are right though that those shows were badly treated by Channel 5 and moved around the schedules so they don't gain the popularity over in the UK!

I just hope that doesn't happen to Gotham when Channel 5 show it!

Once Upon A Time had every chance to gain popularity. They showed two seasons in the heart of Sunday primetime, one rated well and the second didn't. It happens.

They aren't the only broadcaster over here to drop a US show recently. C4 dropped The Killing US and Scandal, with both finding new homes on pay platforms.

Once Upon A Time was still one of Channel 5 top performing US shows despite a slight fall in the ratings for it when they dropped it!

CSI despite being one if Channel 5 top performing US shows is still shown nearly a year after its been shown in the US

I just hope they don't treat Gotham as badly as these shows!

CSI doesn't normally air this late, the only reason it did was because they fast-tracked The Mentalist in the Tuesday 9PM slot probably thinking it would be the last season and didn't want to air CSI outside its traditional timeslot.
