He "absolutely disagree(d)", and said it was a "cardinal sin" to do heel leads in rhumba, and he looked livid. Okay, he was right, but can he not express his opinion without blowing his top ?

Did Patrick suddenly start doing heel leads in the dance-off which he didn't do before? And if not, why did Len give him a 9 and not mention such a "cardinal sin" in his summing up?

He was in a foul mood last night. Maybe it will be his last series?

Agree so why did he not mark Patrick (way) down on Saturday?

Precisely.

Producer manipulation at its finest, lets have a "blow up" by Len when Patrick's already safely through so it appeases the section of viewers who didn't think he should have been there in the first place.
Ashley made mistakes, Patrick had some heel leads but, overall, Patrick's performance in the rumba was better.

So what, I'm getting pretty grumpy about all the lack if acceptance of the result

I wondered the same thing.

Good point. I'm not a dancer so don't have a clue what a 'cardinal sin' is in the context of a rumba but I thought Patrick did a very good job. It's such a hard dance for a man. That aside, of course Len can criticise. His role is the 'king of ballroom' I just found it uncomfortable to watch because he was so caustic, it was a bit OTT and came out of nowhere.

Artem is ignoring him, so maybe Len is fed up with no-one taking any notice of him.

He was angry because the other three judges didn't agree with him and he didn't get his way.

He looked in pain to me when the camera panned onto him after Ashleys dance, looked to me as if he was nursing a splitting headache.

I don't think he was "angry"- each judge has a characterisation they have to play out on this entertainment show, and that's his.
Craig- Mr Nasty
Darcey- elegant nurturer
Len- grumpy elder statesman
Bruno- over-exciteable camp guy

It's just a little light drama.

Len is getting a little carried away with himself.

If he had marked Natalie and Sophie properly (one too low, the other too high) then I could understand him being so upset by heel leads in a rumba.

Why didn't he mention heel leads when Patrick was hearing the judges' comments ?

Possibly but the messaging is almost leaving no credible winner.

ITT has been claiming Natalie is dull for weeks, and the judges have said so, more implicitly, and raised questions whether she is actually doing the set dances on the floor.

Patrick has no votes and is toast. Len has now also now raised the point that he's not that good, and shouldn't actually still be there at all.

Sophie shows no signs of escaping from the undermarking, and does still have a problem with too many dances and acting. She's not looking like a winner.

Susanna has been technically weakest for weeks, and seems to be there only on enthusiasm and the Chris Hollins vote. Her marks can't justify a win. A win for her would look a triumph for daytime TV viewers and anyone who could think of a poor reason not to vote for Abbey or Natalie or Sophie

The only one getting winner's comments, top of the, pre-swingafon fix, leaderboard this week, is Abbey . We don't know where she is on the voting, and whether she also still has her voting problem, or whether the home counties will vote on accents rather than dancing.

Well, that's a very laid back way of looking at it.
I think Len has become increasingly rude and bad tempered, and needs to be pensioned off after this series.
That outburst must have made Patrick feel really bad at the end of the show, and as others have pointed out, he marked it highly first time around.

I'm home counties born and bred and I love her to bits!
I'm no dance expert, but I just enjoy watching her and Sophie much more than the others.

Any one of the remaining couples could win at this stage, this is possibly the most "open" series' of SCD there's been in years.

i was highly relieved that the other 3 judges all went for patrick - i knew len would go for ashley and i was slightly worried that one of the others would throw a sympathy vote his way, thereby enabling len to use his 'casting vote'.

Len's comments in the main show and post-DO left a bad taste in my mouth. He was needlessly rude. He also apparently has a remarkably short memory or needs new glasses if he failed to pick up Patrick's cardinal sin before.

It's the same kind of thing he did to Mark earlier in the series. Come to think of it, wasn't Brucie off that week too? Just wondering if the minor delay between the result and Tess/Claudia asking if he agreed upset him?

I have to disagree. Since her fab Charleston, Sophie has continued to fail to live up to her great start.

She is floppy and seems half-hearted.

Lovely girl, but not a lovely dancer.

She's been over-marked consistently and Craig's fawning over her last night was cringe-making.

Just my (incredibly informed) opinion
