Obviously Len is jet lagged. He is still flying back and forth for Dancing with the Stars, or am I mistaken? He was in a foul mood and very irritated by just about everything on Saturday night. I think Patrick did "heel leads" only in the Dance Off but I am not a pro dancers so I may be wrong but it explains why Len did not mentioned this before the Dance Off.

Yeah, Patrick (and partner) slowed it down a lot for the DO (taking on board the "too intense" comments from the main slow (the pro dancer also toned down a lot of the silly, supposedly erotic faces she pulled in the main show) and by going slower, the result was that Patrick started leading on the heel during the DO.
Len's behavior had been very odd throughout Saturday night, but on this he was quite correct and if the other judges had been judging on the DO rather than who is the best overall dancer, Patrick should have gone.

I disagree, Ashley made more mistakes and missed the ending lift from his routine. He also didn't correct the lack of hip movement that had been asked for. Putting in a load of tricksy lifts into the routine didn't mean it was a technically good salsa.

I got the feeling that he was p*ssed on main show, so maybe when the camera panned on to him he was starting to sober up?
Or maybe somebody had just replayed his sleazy comment to Abbey to him and he'd realised how badly it came off.

I really do think all there was to it was that he was angry at not getting his own way. He has similar reactions if Craig marks somebody even one point lower than he does.

Any number of mistakes would not be as bad as heel leads in a rumba. It really is fundamental.
I know exams are completely different to performing, as they are more about technique, but it would be an automatic fail. That's how fundamental it is.
It is possible Patrick didn't do heel leads in his first performance and that is why Len didn't remark on it then.

Could have been a reaction to Ashley and Ola not performing the final lift they'd received such praise for the "evening" before (or about an hour earlier in fact).

And a lack of the correct hip movement is fundamental to the salsa. That's kind of the point.
I find it incredibly difficult to believe Patrick suddenly started dancing heel leads, usually found in the ballroom dances, less than an hour after he'd danced the routine and been given 9s and a 10 for it.

Well I don't see how you could get correct hip movement in a rumba with the wrong footwork. And a rumba has more time to get it right as it's slower.

In basic terms the Patrick dance was a cake walk minus the cake
A bored stare is not passion, a flat footed walk is not a rumba whilst all the other dancers danced routines that stretched abilities Ashley who has never previously out danced Patrick did so this week
One well covered missed lift still out danced a flat dire performance from Patrick (his first but dreadful bad night)

Ok fair enough. I would have to watch the video as I wasn't looking at his feet. (Not my job to do that. I expect the judges to watch out for these things
). Wasn't much of a rumba though in my view.

Yes, but the point made so elegantly beforehand is that there are only really 2 who SHOULD win- those being Sophie (if she starts getting fairer marks!) or Abbey. Natalie, Susanna and Patick CAN win by nature of them being semi finalists, but I don't feel any of them should!

The section on Len's lens about Ashley sort of highlighted it, it's more to do with the transference of weight rather than whether it's heel or toe lead- you can still get the correct weight on a heel lead (ballroom dances rely on it!) so Patrick could have completely messed up his footwork (which I did notice when he was dancing second time around) and still got the hip action to an acceptable level!

Well, you're entitled to your opinion, but Patrick and Susanna aren't anywhere near the same league technically as the other 3, and Natalie seems to be being hampered by Artem's choreography (not her fault I know) but I'm expecting Artem to pull his socks up for the next 2 weeks, so for me, if he does, it's one of 3 if SCD is to remain a dancing competition by principle.

It may have been a bit harsh, but I wouldn't have called it rude- it was constructive (however harshly delivered) I know he did the same to Mark when the others sent Dave home, if he disagrees with the others, he's well within his right to say why. Otherwise, what on earth's the point? It just becomes a case of the judges pointing and going "I prefer you to you!" with no real structure or dancing expertise required!

SCD's never been a dancing competition, if it was Chris Parker wouldn't have been a Series One finalist, Julian Clary wouldn't have been a finalist in Series Two, Darren Gough wouldn't have won Series Three and I could go on ad nauseum.
I suspect that Len was more angry with his fellow judges than the dancers but that's even more reason to be polite on camera and avoid a rant at the celebs.

At least Ashley danced for the dance off. Patrick was just walking around, stopping and posing - plodding along, heals first, it was all so embarrassing. The studio audience remained firmly in their chairs after Patricks performance while they gave Ashley & Ola a standing ovation. That was the difference: Standing Ovation for Ashley, a few embarrassed handclaps for Patrick.
It is like two students; one student (Ashley) attempts 100 questions gets 70 correct and 30 wrong (mistake) while the other student (Patrick) attempts 15 questions and gets 10 wrong (mistakes). If you evaluate by the number of mistakes made then the poor student wins (Patrick 10 mistakes to Ashleys 30), but if you evaluate it on the number of correct answers then the good student wins (Ashleys 70 to Patricks 5).
Anyway I have sent my Tiffany boxes to Craig, Darcey & Bruno.
