Hair and make up advice

Hi guys, you were so nice last time I'm going to ask for more girly advice

I have my Christmas work do on Friday, I've got a dress (a 1950/ style halter tea dress) which is black with deep red spots. But I'm stuck on hair and make up.

I don't want to go 1950s with those so was thinking deep red lips and a metallic eye shadow -gold? Imy skin is best described as Mediterranean (with freckles!) and eyes are dark, dark brown! I can take a lot of make up, as I have big eyes. My hair is purple at the moment, but will go back to brown by Friday,

My issue with hair is that ill be at work all day (in a kennels, so in and out into the fields) And can't wear it down whilst I'm there, I also don't have time to come home and have a shower. So it'll be a 'make do' at a friends with some straighteners- what can I do?

My hairs shoulder length and although looks straightish has a kink and texture is more Afro than sleek (dad was Maori) so I pretty much have straight or wild hair (think Monica in friends in Barbados...)

So....heat do you think, golds? Silvers? Was thinking a sleek pony for the hair but then I'll cover some of the halter back,

For the hair I would definitely recommend a bumped up ponytail. It would compliment your dress perfectly and is just the right side of retro. It also wouldn't take long to do;
