Why is Patrick the judges favourite!

Because he is, isn't he? I would like to know why he is the blue eyed boy with the judges. Not that I dislike him or am bashing him and I think he has done well to get this far. Is it because he works for the BBC?

The judges seem to like Abbey, Natalie and Patrick. It must be infuriating if they're not your favourites but it is a competition and they're judging. It is inevitably a hierarchy. To balance things out, maybe Sophie and Susanna are more popular with the voter??? I guess one of those two will win, or perhaps Abbey. It won't be Patrick.

Why do they like him? He has rhythm and a feel for movement and music. He performs well. He isn't just good at ballroom or Latin. He's equally good/bad at both. He prob won't get any further now though because he has a job as well as this so two dances are going to tell on him more than the others, and, for whatever reason, the audience doesn't seem to want what he has to offer. Perplexes me because he has a lot of standout dances so far but there ya go

The BBC thing that people keep on about always seems to me bollocks! Not proven. The corporation is too huge to be fully integrated. In any case, Patrick has had issues with them in the past over perceived racism against black actors. For making that statement he got black-balled for ten years, he says. That's not so blue-eyed

It couldn't just that the judges think he can dance? That they think all the celebrities who are still in it can dance?

Patrick and Abbey have been receiving very inflated scores since they dropped into the dance off, on separate weeks. The judges are trying to protect them, but as the number of couples goes down, there's only do much they can do.

They have tried to manipulate it at later stages in previous series, with semi- final dance-offs, swingathons etc.

He's a favourite, I don't think he's the favourite. At this stage he's proved to be one of the best, so inevitably they'll 'favour' him over the likes of Ashley and Susanna, however, lest we forget that if only one of the other three judges had voted for Ashley, Patrick would now be out, so I don't think they all blatantly prefer him.

I voted for Patrick, and he was still in the dance-off.

Edited becoause the Italics I leans too much in this font!

I don't think he is their favourite. He might be Darcey's favourite

I expect they like him because he delivers a good performance more often than not.

Oh er Summeriris don't go bringing that radical thinking around here.

When the judges say that Patrick is the best male dancer I think they mean he looks as if he could dance naturally without choreography to guide him. This is certainly why I rate him and have said since about week two if I were in a club Patrick would be the first contestant I would ask to dance.

If you were to take all the contestants and get them to go onto the dance floor and dance to a random track i.e. they aren't told what it would be, which contestants look as if they could improvise from basic steps and create a spontaneous dance. I think Natalie could, I think Patrick could. I even think Mark might have been able to although it might have looked a bit daddish - if Dad had timing and rhythm.

Granted this is a competition about dancing and performing a choreography not improvised dancing.

Because they know he's not a threat to their female winner agenda. They've been right toerags about orchestrating things the way they want this year, it makes a joke of audience participation. I don't think there is an overall grand master plot to get a specific winner, but they know they want a female celeb lifting that trophy this year. Patrick won't challenge it, he doesn't have the fan base or the underdog vote whereas there was always a chance Ashley, with his good looks, youth appeal and consistent undermarking, could have been a threat had he reached the final as the only boy.

Personally I like Patrick, and I like Anya - she's my fave of the new pros - but I know they won't win. Maybe there are others that feel the same defeat and haven't bothered voting? Susanna and Kevin are likely to win, as much as I'd like it to be Abbey, Sophie or even Natalie. It feels like a foregone conclusion at this point. To me, anyway.

I think Patrick has style, panache and natural rhythm but is by no means the best dancer in the competition. What he does have is the flair to sell a routine.

I don't think he will survive the S/F because he does not have the fan base

...or alternatively he and Anya'll pick up more of Ola & Ashley supporter votes than the other couples will and evade the DDO

Let's be controversial and say he a judges favorite because he is quite good. He has been overmarked but he's also had a lot of really good routines that have been marked down due to unfortunate errors. Darcy tends to be more generous to the guys than the gals generally, or maybe like Arlene she's tougher on the the women, but without her 10s Patrick wouldn't seem overmarked.

Good enough to be the runner-up out of the 6 couples in the Swingathon? Seriously... no favouritism there?

The judges clearly want a male dancer in the final to create some balance.

Indeed. I personally dont care much for Patrick one way or the other, but I can appreciate that he is the best male dancer this year (though is not saying much) and probably joint second best overall with Abbey.

And as someone else has mentioned, yes Patrick and Abbey have had their scores inflated (but personally I think only by comparison to Natalie's) to make sure that the better dancers remain in the competition which is their function after all (judge and sort them out in order).

It is tough when the judges clearly rate a contestant that you dont rate much way above your favourite!

Who did you think was the runner up then?

I don't think he is the favourite. IMO he just happens to work for the BBC and BBC might want one their own to win/or go far. So Susannah and Patrick have done well. Sometimes they have been over marked when they shouldn't have been. Just a thought. I could be totally wrong.

Am I right in thinking Darcey has given him 3 10's in a row? He's a decent enough dancer but I haven't seen any "10" dances from him yet.

Hardly surprising that those two might have a big repertoire of moves. Natalie trained for many years at a lower level and claims expertise. Patrick went to drama school with dance on the curriculum....

Similarly Darcey fawning over Patrick's acting ability was also nonsensical. He's an experienced actor - so of course he can act. He's also gained from it - because he is relatively slow and he's been given slower routines with fewer steps - which means he's had time to act and choregraphy focused on acting. Ashley's been expected to be more lively, do more moves, do bigger lifts, and has had far less to act - he has had less time and scope to act anything.

How can you say that Natalie is a judges favourite? What programme are you watching?

Patrick and Abbey are quite obviously judges favourites.

The programme in which Natalie and Artėm have topped the leader board more than any other couple

Are you for some reason assuming that it's discreditable to be liked by the judges in a competition?
