Underscored Ashley's crowd pleasing salsa-

We honestly loved that routine, we were whooping and jumping on the sofa. Fun and excitement. It even blew Sophie's dance out of my mind. Not may crowd pleasing dances for high tempo- Abbey has been beautiful in the slow dances. We really thought for the sheer audacity and lifts, especially for a male contestant, we thought they would get four tens. How many dances have I heard the judges excuse techinical errors and still give a 10. I guess it's all personal taste but again Natalies lack of chemistry left me cold, sophie love her but was well wobbly and surely love 'Kevin from Grimsby' but enough is enough that choreography was awful for Susannah.. Abby and partner are lovely... but Delilah ,,,,,

It wasn't worth a ten, then again none of the dances were. I thought the score was fine.

I am really picky about SCD salsas and thought that was one of the better attempts. There were some ugly lifts and too many of them and he needed to work on his feet but on the whole I thought it was better than most. Hats off to Ola.

I usually have similar opinions to most on here but I thought Ashley's salsa really wasn't good. No hip action (fundamental to the dance) flat footed, bent knees... I see that it was entertaining and full on but no control with it at all! I'm also baffled by lens comments about how he'd have saved them, yes toe leads are fundamental to a rumba but so is hip action which Patrick had compared to none in Ashley's dance!

I'm not sure I could really tell any difference between Ashley's Salsa and his earlier Samba - and that's not a good thing. I think he was still taking too big a step resulting in poor hip action and his arms lacked control.

I think Ashley was just lacking in the time to correct his issues and for me he hadn't improved enough over the weeks to merit 10s. It's a pity he left this week as I think it was a week too soon but he was never good enough to win this.

I agree with you about Len's comments. Yes heel leads are bad in rumba and lack of heel contact is bad in salsa so they were as bad as one another from a technique point of view. But hey its pantomime season!

Had Ashley been flatter footed and had softer (bent springy) knees he would have got the hip action. Not exactly a flat foot but had he pressed the ball of his foot into the floor and then let the heel come down to the floor too he would have got the hip movement. But he stayed on the balls of his feet all the time and so he didn't. And the rest as they say is history.

Totally agree, it had crowd pleasing lifts to distract from the fact Ashley didn't do a vast amount of salsa steps and that his hip action wasn't very good.
What name??

Agreed. And the score was fair.

Glad I aren't the only one! Agree with all of the above. The show is in danger of becoming like the X factor in terms of manipulation, the reason why I think no body watches X factor these days. Wish the marking would be honest and fair for all couples, Sophie's marks have seemed fair but based on the inflation with everybody else she should have had a few 10's by now.

When you think back to series 2, Jill was happy with 8's & 9's because they were amazing scores. Nowadays you can dance a dance without any of the technique needed and get the same scores! Ashley didn't seem to get that to beat 35 he'd have to impress craig or make the step up to a 10 dance which he wasn't capable of!
