I'm not sure they have a UK address. AFAIK you can exchange them at any other Monster outlet..Or, you could replace them with a couple of cables from the pound shop. You won't notice any difference, It's pointless paying out good money for HDMI cables.
It seems strange that 2 have gone at the same time (of any make). Have you definitely proved it's the cables that have a fault?

Are these those ridiculously expensive cables I read about everywhere that give the same performance as those costing a fraction of the cost?

Yes, crazy prices and so bulky and heavy they commonly damage equipment - they also make MASSIVE profits for the retailer.

Not as mind bogglingly stupidly overpriced as some cables you can buy but certainly overpriced for what they are.

The weight of the cables - and the connectors on the ends of the cables - forces the sockets that they are connected to to slope downwards - which damages the other end of the connector which is attached to the circuit board of the TV.

I won a monster scart cable in a magazine competition about fifteen years ago - the thing weighed a ton, and damaged scart sockets in two different tellies. It looks very nice, shiny blue thick cable and heavy gold-plated scart connectors at each end - but I wouldn't use it again (if I actually still used anything which had a scart connector on it).

Dunno about you but our binmen come on a Tuesday

Seriously, for less than the price of the postage you can buy just as good a cable from eBay or Amazon. If Monster will refund the postage then it's probably worth it, but please don't waste any money on an overpriced product.

Tragic that OP was scammed. Tragic.

The 90 quid monster cables do literally the exact same thing as a 99p cable from Ebay.

That's not totally true is it? For long term reliability decent gauge copper wire is required and a minimum plate of Au on the terminals plus quality soldering. You really do not get that for a pound.

But I do agree, you only need to pay a few pounds for a reliable cable.

With scart leads that carried an analogue signal you really could see a difference with better cables but HDMI carries a digital signal with, I suspect, some redundancy so as long as you have a good connection, a cheap cable is as good as an expensive one.

I remember posters dissing the cable that Telewest gave away with first installs of the V+ HD box, I have 2, they are still in use and work well.

I think that the OP may have to look elsewhere for his problem as I agree with Call100, so unlikely that 2 will fail at the same time. I would be tempted to try the cables on someone else's equipment.

There is no point in gold plating the terminals unless the HDMI sockets on your equipment is gold plated as well.

Before we slag off Monster any more perhaps HDMI would care to reply to the question.

Both cables have been tried on different machines and will not play on anything other cables such as QED work fine I have now dumped both cables as no dealer was interested in exchanging products that we're not purchased there

It's not worth the stress....You can email the US site if you want to let off steam. (email on here). Their UK site doesn't seem to sell cables.
Or, you could just write it off to experience and never buy monster (Shoe in any expensive cable here) again.
Enjoy your new cables...

The extremes of anything are always best avoided.

So "pound shop" HDMI is best avoided, as is the mega expensive cables.

Cheap cables can fall to pieces at inconvenient times.

A £6 2m HDMI is about right.

I agree with this. There's no sense paying a lot but saving a pound or two on a system costing hundreds at least is pretty pointless just to get some kind of upmanship. I'll wager many of those bragging about buying the cheapest possible HDMI leads waste that amount of money hundreds of times over on other items.

Why 'best avoided'? They work perfectly well. I have a couple of expensive cable and some cheap ones. No difference and certainly no sign of a cheaper cable (that is hardly ever touched) 'falling apart'...

It's not a case of bragging or saving a pound or two and certainly not 'one upmanship' (a ridiculous claim!). It's informing people that the cheap cables actually do the job perfectly well.
Of course it's up to individuals if they wish to buy any priced cable as long as they are armed with the correct information.

I have both pound shop and 99p shop cables which are fine. An earlier £6 cable only works one way round, a fault at one end I assume.

Oh it most definitely is. These threads almost always descend into slagging off people who pay too much and showing how clever people are for saving a few pounds or even pence on a cable.

If that was all that was done these threads would be very short. Instead we have people with a small and simple piece of knowledge (that HDMI cables are digital and that cheap ones are usually fine) competing amongst themselves to look clever at the expense of those who do not have this knowledge. It is not a very edifying display.
