Abbey's vote on DS just a knee-jerk reaction. Way out of line.

It just says loading, could you tell me the order. I can see the article just not the poll

Poll has Sophie with over 50% or something daft
Abbey second with just under 15%

They are real voters.

This is how Tellymix sees the final 5:

Strictly Come Dancing 2013: Who is your favourite?

Sophie Ellis-Bextor (39%, 44 Votes)
Susanna Reid (25%, 28 Votes)
Abbey Clancy (23%, 26 Votes)
Natalie Gumede (11%, 13 Votes)
Patrick Robinson (2%, 3 Votes)

They are usually quite accurate with BB but this is only 114 voters so far.

There you go. Even on that small sample Sophie has nearly double the votes of Abbey.

And the DS people aren't?

You can't accept the reality of polls that has your favourite winning and ignore the ones you disagree with. Or rather, you can, but it's not the most sensible thing to do...

I don't think DS, Tellymix or Hello got it right. I reckon Susanna probably got more votes than everyone else put together last weekend! And she got the loudest cheers when she and Kevin were put through.

Even if accurate so what? Just differences based on the different samples.

I have never read Hello magazine. Mind you before this SCD I had only heard of the husband of Abbey; I don't watch breakfast TV and had never heard of Susanna; never watched Hollyoaks; never watched Casualty; I might have watched 10 minutes of Coronation Street sometime; never knowingly heard a Sophie song or of her ...

Mind you I had heard of all the pros from last year or elsewhere.

I'd agree with that - and with the best will in the world, the only poll that matters is the one in a couple of weeks time

Two polls with Sophie having a strong lead.
One poll with Abbey having a slight lead.
Your choice.

And my choice is to accept the reality of them all - and understand that different people have different opinions. It's quite probable that people on this DS forum in particular are looking for, and voting for, entirely different things from the dancers on Strictly.

Doesn't mean any of them are right or accurate as an overall reflection of the voting public. But feel free to let your personal biases confirm the ones you want to believe

Absolutely meaningless.

The smaller the sample the greater margin of error. The larger the sample, the more accurate the prediction.

This is not Hello magazine but Digital Spy .

Should I mention that Abbey topped the poll for the 2nd week in a row now http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s104/...ampaign=twdsuk

or is it still way out of line OP ???

Doesn't follow. The size of the larger sample and how its selected make it more or less reliable.

The Hello poll looks wrong from what we know of the voting. It also bizarrely gives a low figure for the people who feature more in celebrity magazines.

There's nothing in the telemix poll thats inconsistent with the voting so far. There's just no rational reason why Sophie should have such a big vote.

NEVER believe Hello polls. I have experience of them from the past when someone else (not SCD) was well in the lead - you could see the numbers of the votes under the pic of the candidates - yet they gave the winner as someone else. There was a heck of a furore at the time. But they have never been trusted since

The thing is, it doesn't really matter does it?
The only one that does is the one that Tess and Claudia give the results for of a Sunday night.

Independant polls are nice to coo over if your favourite celeb is in the lead - or wibble over if they aren't - but they aren't going to change anything.

Even then, when it gets to the Final, it's a whole different bag of beans because there are so many people that just vote on the final anyway. Figures released from shows like X-factor show that one contestant can be consistently in the lead until the last gasp. Different show, but I shouldn't think that voting patterns and policies change over much - and the first we'll know about that one is when the glittery confetti is coming down

None of these polls are really accurate IMO as you can only vote once. Louis didn't top a lot of these polls, but his fans were very passionate and voted for him numerous times. I think whoever it is that inspires the most rabid fans (in a nice way) will win.

I think the free internet voting has changed the playing field too. People who never voted, now vote a lot because it's free. I do. Apart from Louis, Austin and Kara, I never voted, now I vote every week.

The DS poll is for who you think did the best dance that week, I don't think all those who voted for Abbey would actually vote for her on the show.
