We have just had a good update of software which allows the recording of BT 53 Internet channels which are SD & HD.

But there a few items that I feel need to be changed with the BT Youview.

1) Slow remote reaction by the box.
1a) 3 number pressing on the remote does not work well at all.

2) EPG loading needs to be made faster.

3) Internet channels break up and blocky with a code always at the top each day.

4) It would be nice to see why some recording have not recorded.
4a) To set recording with padding of different times when set up a recording.

5) Why should there be a recording sign on the EPG of a show you already recorded the same as a set one ? May be it should be green in colour to mark it and yellow for recording now ?

What ideas would like to fixed or changed in software ???
1. use leading zeroes or two digit OK, I agree the channel selection should be made this way and pause longer before auto selecting in that it is quicker to do as I suggest

e.g. for channel 12 press 0,1,2 or 1,2,OK for channel 6 press 6,OK or 0,0,6

2. on low eco this should not be a problem, on high eco I can see it being difficult to overcome

3. yeah I noticed the code top left - annoying but I have seen older sets that overscan but not really an option now many have LCD/LED/PDP

4. padding I agree with

5. the recording / planned I can't see as a problem because of the now bar in the EPG - it should highlight clashes AS you enter the record request, with Series taking precedence.

It moves internet channel recordings in 1 min jumps, so a few presses or maybe try holding it?
No, not whilst watching it. Highlight the program in your list - it will show how far through playback you got. Press it then.

The number one missing feature for me (other than slow performance as already mentioned) is having the ability to press 'play' on the remote when watching live TV or in the menus, and it takes you straight in to the recorded programme list (like you can with sky boxes). It's a right kerfuffle to get to it now.

And as this is posted on the BT YouView forum, the ability to stream the extra channels without infinity. There is no technical reason why this can't be done, it's just BT's way of getting us to dip our hands further into our pockets and pay for infinity, which to be honest, I wouldn't object to if BT would pull there finger out and make infinity an option for me. My broadband is easily fast enough to stream HD, so I don't buy that 'only infinty has the bandwidth' argument, because I can happily stream two instances of Netflix in HD using my current broadband.
The blue 'Y' button should default to the 'My View' option (or even 'Recordings'). I don't see the point of it going to the 'Guide' button when there is a 'Guide' button on the remote. 'Play' should resume the last watched recording if TV has not been live paused.

Interesting argument about the Infinity for TV - it's a stealth tax akin to Sky requiring a base subscription before Premium channels. I can understand why they might want to remove any issues with lower bandwidth connections, you can stream 'HD' on a 4Mbps connection but due to the increase in number of connected devices and the lack of QoS on BT's Hubs or many other domestic routers, you can see how most ADSL connections might suffer with buffering - this would be unacceptable when watching or recording, so I feel this is a valid point, but surely the devices need to segment the traffic for IPTV.

But let's not beat about the bush, line rental is exactly the same stealth pricing, increases in recent years have been astronomical, but it's probably due to a move from subscribers to ditch landlines in favour of contract mobiles - another area where 'line rental' is levied and it's a misnomer at best.

Thought of something else, but this only applies to the DTR-T2100.

There are 3 lights on the front representing power, recording activity and broadband.

However, when in standby the power light not only shows the level of standby (there's an eco and non-eco standby, depending on whether your patience will allow you to wait 2 minutes for it to start up) but also whether it's recording or not. If you're using eco standby then the power light is red. If, however, you're in standby and it's not eco then its purple. If you're recording then it's also purple, no matter which standby mode you're in. Basically, purple can mean non-eco standby, non-eco standby & recording OR echo standby and recording. What gives?
Well, they listened. The latest software update has fixed this - it's currently in standby and recording and it's showing both the purple and red light.

Just had an email from Humax stating that the BBC iPlayer has been updated to the newest version and also the BBC Red Connected button is now available on Youview boxes. I have tested it on my BT Youview box and is in a beta version. More information here:-

Hope that this new software is to make the box ready for Netflix service and also to allow new channels in new spare epg 300 to 400 ?
