Galaxy 4s to iphone 5c for battery power?
Considering moving from my Galaxy 4s to an iphone 5c.
I used to have a iphone 4s and found the battery to be great and would easily last 1-2 days. When it broke I moved over to a Galaxy 4s and ive found its battery to be soooo much worse! Ive got almost everything turned off and power saver mode on and it still wont last on a night out I really want to love the phone but the battery life is just too poor.Considering moving back to Apple and going for a 5c. What's the battery like in real life from 5c owners? |

That seems really bad for the S4.
I know a few have had bad batteries - it might be one of them? I would have thought the S4 would have lasted longer than the 4S? Not sure how it compares to the 5C or 5S though (5S might even be better)? |

Depends if it's on 3G or 4G. Many people report the battery life of the S4 is better than average on 3G but the other way round for 4G.

My S4 seemed fine on 4G. One things for sure my S4 outlasts my mums 5C and i use my S4 a hell of a lot more than she uses her 5C

Probably got a bad battery or a glitch somewhere.
The S4 has a 2600mah battery versus something 1507 mah for the 5C. |

Im only on 3G. I just cant understand it. I did a factory reset but didn't change anything.
The battery drops 10-15% over night compared to be old 4s which dropped about 4-5% |

That does sound bad for the S4. My battery life (S4) is pretty decent. For example I took my phone off the charger at 6 am this morning and new I have 33% battery left. I've had my phone on 4G all day and spent about an hour or 2 tethering.

Go into the settings - battery, this will give a detailed breakdown of what is using the battery and start from there. Perhaps you have some background thing working which is eating battery or an iffy mobile signal which causes the radio to hunt around, again draining the battery.
I did have a glitch on my Nexus 5 with some version of google services which just drained the phone battery in 2 hours. Loaded all the updates restarted the phone and have not had a problem since. |

Main battery drain always seems to be the screen. I try to keep the brightness low and always turn the screen off after use.
I dont know it just seemed with my old 4s I didnt have to think about stuff like killing apps or power saver modes, but with this it just feels like Im fighting the phone all the time. |

If you go for an iPhone I would would say the 5s not the 5c. I do a bit of app development so I tend to have the latest nexus and latest iPhone. I find the battery on the 5s to be very good. Spec wise the Nexus 5 should have a better battery life but due to little glitches here and there and sometimes leaving apps running in the background and the way android works it does sometimes unexpectedly drain the battery. The iPhone is much more predictable. Android is certainly more powerful than iOS but needs more maintenance. |

I only use my phone for social media and texting (90% of the time). I was looking at some benchmark testing and it seems the iphone 5s/c will give 8-9 hours web browsing compared to 5hr on the s4
battery is: AA1D516yS/2-B |

The "battery usage" indicators on all versions of Android and all apps that try to imitate it are very very approximate. Android doesn't by default provide any method to measure battery drain, unlike one of my favourite features of Nokia S60 phones that provided realtime battery usage down to the milliwat four times a second.
However my S4 drains around 0.5% per hour while in standby overnight with 4G and Wifi both on, and about 0.2-0.3% per hour on 3G so about 8% tops - while 15% in comparison is pretty bad. |

S4 to 5c really is like jumping from a HD phablet to a low resolution phone.
The battery is a standard pop out one on the S4, So I'd suggest a 7.5Ah Zerolemon for those days when you need more power. |

Yeah interacting with the screen (i.e. browsing) causes quite an obscene amount of power drain on the S4 for some reason.
However 5 hours is a bit low. According to GSMArena's tests it does 7.5 hours of web browsing (originally 8.75 hours) and 12.5 hours of video playback. http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-i95...life-improved/ The same site put the 5s' battery life at 10 hours browsing and 10.5 hours video playback. |

Their 'endurance rating' test is meant to be a guide to general battery life. The update puts it up to 69 hours from 63.
With a heck of a lot less screen and pixels the 5 has always done well. I think they quoted something like 53 hours for the 5c. |

The iPhone 5C has a much better battery life than the iPhone 4S, so if the iPhone 4S was great for your the 5C should be even better. The battery life was this first thing i noticed was better when i changed from a Samsung Galaxy S2 to an iPhone 5.
iPhone 5 was taken off charge at 7:30 this morning, its on 84% at moment (17:08) and i have made 3 short phone calls, checked twitter a few times, and replied to a few emails. My S2 would have needed charging by now. |

The screen on the iphone 5, 5C and 5S isn't a bad screen...
It now just happens to be have become commodity type item. I can quite imagine that the screen on the iPhone 4 cost 2 to 3 times as much when it arrived. |
