Pageant Material just charted at #11 here, which is fantastic for a country album! It's a shame it just missed out on top 10 but it shows how much she's grown since STDP got to #39.

I know chart positions aren't everything and they don't bother me too much but it's great to see a popular country album here! I can only think of Lady Antebellum that have achieved as much success out of the big American acts when it comes to the charts in recent years?
That's great

Do you have any favourite tracks? It's a very solid album. There isn't one song that I skip.

I prefer some songs to others but like you, there isn't a song I ever skip and I'm sure that in the future the songs that aren't one of my favourites now will be at some point.

I guess if I was pushed to pick a few favourites now they would be High Time, Late To The Party, Pageant Material, Somebody To Love, Good Ol' Boys Club, Fine and Are You Sure. What about you?

Edit: Just realised I've listed half the album

I keep crying when listening to "Fine" today. It's been a weird day. I'll probably be able to listen to it without crying tomorrow

I noticed the similarities between "This Town" and "Ode To Billie Joe" too. Maybe she's getting that out of the way before people start comparing the two songs.

I love the track with Willie Nelson too. I've never listened to his music before but I've become aware of the fact that "Are You Sure" is one of his songs. I think that the duet is organic given that they toured together recently. I always prefer it when collaborations come from actually knowing someone for a while as opposed to recording vocals separately having never met each other.
I need to listen to more Willie Nelson, I'm ashamed to say I barely know his music. I love the song too, there aren't any songs on the album I don't like.
This is one of my favourite Willie Nelson tracks.
I don't think he wrote it, but his voice works brilliantly with Lee Ann Womack.
IIRC, they won a Grammy for the vocals on this.

When I was a child, my Dad had a vinyl album. Half were Willie Nelson songs and the other half were Waylon Jennings. I loved that LP. I must try to remember and see if he's still got it anywhere.

Edit:- Never realised that Mendocino County Line was actually co-written by Bernie Taupin.

Another Edit:- This could be the album I'm thinking of, but that definitely wasn't the cover.

Cheap enough on Amazon, I might take a chance.

I saw that too. I wasn't expecting it to be a single. I do like that though.

I've been listening to "Fine" a lot lately. It's such a beautiful song.

I wonder when the video for "Are You Sure" will be released and whether or not it's an official single or just a video to go with a song.

It's been announced that Dimestore Cowgirl is the next single, so I'm not sure how Are You Sure fits into things.

I saw this too. I was listening to "Pageant Material" in my car earlier. It's a wonderful album.

She's been nominated at the GRAMMYs again this year!

It really does make me happy to see the album appear on so many lists in the same way that Same Trailer Different Park did.

First post of 2016?

Saw her play at Country 2 Country a couple of weeks ago. She didn't disappoint (again). She gets a lot of bad press but I think she's wonderful. she did a lovely cover of "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley & she performed her version of "Spoonful of Sugar" too. Cried throughout her performance of "Fine". It's such a beautiful song.

She had the hard task of following Chris Stapleton, though. He got a standing ovation which lasted for at least 15 minutes. Nobody wanted to be the next to perform, not even Eric Church, and he was headlining!

She held her own well in an arena, but I do believe that she suits smaller venues better. That said, if she played arenas I would still go because I think that she's brilliant.
