Is Wires currently the most (over)played song on the radio?

It must be on Radio 1 at least. It's on every bloody time I tune in ! Earlier in the week it was on the playlist of three consecutive shows - Jo Whiley, Colin and Edith and Scott Mills (although to be fair to him it was Your Call, unless he also played it earlier). I've heard it twice on Chris Moyles so it's also on their daily playlist. We complain about constantly repeated promos and programes on TV but we generally accept it on radio it seems. Don't get me wrong I like the song (now I know what it's about; fairly indifferent before), but not 4 times a day.

Yes. I love it, but I think it is horribly overplayed. And I only ever listen to Chris Moyles.

I love the song, but haven't heard it that much on the radio. Wouldn't mind if I did though - it's a lot better than some current releases

I love the song but I agree with it being overplayed. The problem is that after a while, no matter how great the song, you begin to get sick of hearing it. It's a shame when a great song suddenly makes you want to throw things at the radio!

Its a great song and hasn't driven me mad yet, although I'm sure Xfm will play it to death

This is really a radio 1 problem. They assume none of their listeners tune in for more than 45 mins at a time and therefore put their songs on constant cycle. It's so irritating, especially if, as i used to, you work with some idiot who insists on keeping it on all day. It's enough to drive you crazy listening to the same 10-15 songs over and over again...

Exactly what I was thinking. I've never heard of, let alone heard, the song in my life.

It's by Athlete - the 2nd album has just been released, entitled Tourist, and I think it is riding in the top 5 albums at the moment.

Much more accessible than their 1st LP, but please people let's not just compare them to Coldplay!

Virgin have repeated this so much now it's just silly. Same goes for Keane and Snow Patrol.

Yes, but not just radio 1 but most of the commercial stations as well. Its exactly why I don't listen to much radio. Every time I tune in it seems to be the same songs over and over again. There's no need for it as there are lots of better singles released all the time but they never get near the playlist. I'll be interested to see if the two singles I'm looking forward to this month from Maximo Park and New Rhodes get played. I won't hold my breath though......

The radio stations may have played it aload of times, but The hits and TMF tv channels must have played girls aloud- i'll stand by you about 50 million times on those two channels alone

Yes, it obviously seems that Virgin has ditched their no repeat 9-5 policy and opted for their repeat it about 15 times every fcuking day policy ... aargh!!

There was a thread about the very subject of Virgin and their undying love of Keane, Jet and Snowpatrol not so long ago.

Wires is actually the 2nd most played song on the radio, as of the last airplay charts, Scissor sisters - filthy/gorgeous is actually the top played song at the moment

everytime i put the music channels on before college its on i think i switched it off 6 times in less than an hour. As soon as it finished on one station and started on another i mean i like the song and everything but has noone heard of overkill. Although ive also flicked off girls aloud and eminems songs constantly. not suprisingly im just going to stick to the news now. Saves on the remotes buttons.

Agree it is overplayed but I could listen to it every hour of the day much better than a lot of garbage like girls aloud/mcfly etc. Can someone confirm for me is it about his baby or someone he knows.
