Come on people, its gone on long enough now, there once was a time where you could find someone on this show who had something about them.
ive not watched for probably around 3 years or so now but have a quick look when the mrs has it on and my god....its like a farmyard of desperate morons with no talent who just dont want to live in the real world probably because their perfoming arts tutor told them that they could sing lol.

And its totally biased and edited to sway it the way the producers want e.g give the ones they want to go out the crap songs with no help or backing....shock horror they get voted off.

WAKE UP PEOPLE.....DONT BE ONE OF THE HEARD!!!

I agree with you. I think it outstayed its welcome since probably the fifth year.

Simon Cowell certainly knows how to get blood out of a stone!

If you don't like it anymore, then simply turn off.

It all depends on the acts IMO. This year started off weak but the final 6 were pretty good.

That will probably do it.

I think XF has been fading for a while but 1D have shown you can create a global phenomenon with the show and that provides Cowell with hope that there will be another. The US show is doing very low numbers and may well be axed in the next couple of years. That will mean questions get asked on this side of the Atlantic about viability.

There are no major new genres emerging or radical social changes happening in pop music. Pop music is really just a part of celebrity culture these days anyway.

I don't know about you, but I want to be part of "the heard" because speaking without an audience is just sad.

Also, what's the point of this post?

Completely agree - though would add that 50% of the Live Acts being good is better than the other years I've seen and some of the others could put in an enjoyable performance now and again. And let's all be clear here - no Little Mix, no One Direction, no Wagner or Rylan, how can this be a bad year?

Where would you expect this "buzz" to occur? It's a cheap Saturday night telly programme, not the moon landings.

All you have said before the BIb in bold has been said before. But to the BIB Aren't you just instructing people to join your own "herd" anyway by stopping watching? Thank you for your instruction mr dictator but no thanks.

yes the glory days have come and gone IMO. I now rarely watch live and for the most part I don't watch at all and I was an avid viewer until around 2009. last year was lame, this year is beyond the pale. the number of threads on here is surely an indication that interest in xfactor is on the slide.

the viewing figures are still decent by comparison to other shows, but it's nowhere near the peak. people can harp on about sky+ and catch up all they like, but the simple fact is not many care enough to watch the show as it goes out. every dog has its day - I happen to think xfactor has had its day and what we are now witnessing is the beginning of the end

I wouldn't say it's done. Not at all. It's still the 2nd biggest tv show in the UK. Ok, it's not at the peak it was in 2010, but that's largely to do with the people auditioning.

They got lucky with 1D. Had they not been a success, there would have been virtually nothing coming out of the show for the last few years and XF USA appears to have been a disaster.

We have people who have had hits in America like Leona, Cher Lloyd and One Direction. Two of which were found only 3 years ago. So it's not like it cant create stars!

That sums up the majority of reality shows.

The buzz would come from people talking about it at work, on the tv, newspaper articles - It used to be that way. Its the Finals week and there is nothing happening!

X Factor thrives or fails on its 'artists' and this year it has been a very poor crop. Out of the three finalists, I would be hesitate to vote for any of them - But if you held a gun to my head, it would probably have to be Luke. At least he has some originality.

I realise Sam has a huge following and is indeed a very good singer, but it takes more than that. She has not engaged my interest and I can't see any longevity in what she has to offer musically.
Having said that, she could have a huge career in the theatre - Nothing wrong with that.

Nicholas - Where do I start? Bland, forgetful and not an artist. Each week he just sings a song, adds no originality to it whatsover. I have noo idea why he has made it this far.
I only hope, for his sake, if he is crowned the winner, the people that have voted to get him there, keep supporting him after the X Factor. It will be Leon Jackson all over again!

I love X Factor, but its become too contrived over the last few years - Needs a rest for a few years, which won't happen now its been signed for 3 years! Needs a massive shake up.

Stop the sob stories
Find real, individual artists who will fight to retain any USP's they have
Employ proper judges who will 'actively' mentor their artists - not just ones who will show up for an hour with a camera crew to show they are 'involved'. I don't include NS in this - I understand she is very hands on, possibly GB also
Lessen the emphasis on the judges - It should be about the artists

Do you think we don't all know this? I'm sure most people watch it BECAUSE of this. Its complete car crash tv, and people making a fool of themselves and the producers desperate attempts of manipulation and causing controversy are entertaining to watch.

Lol I know - But that's what is so sad, most people see it as a joke now (including me). I never used to be like that. It was a proper talent contest to find gifted singers (I wouldn't say musicians) because X Factor has never been one to nurture individuals playing instruments etc. But it definetely had more class and dignity before.

X Factor has officially JUMPED THE SHARK!!!

For me XF is the "love that dare not speak its name"; why else would I come on here? Nobody at work talks about TV, I'm surprised it's different anywhere else. The only TV shows that get discussed by my friends are HBO/Showtime series; never reality tv. As for the papers, The Guardian still runs its live-blog; same this year as every other. I'm sure that other papers are doing more of what they do as well.

Please understand, I'm not denying your experience, you have heard the "buzz" you talk about, but I don't even know anybody who will admit to watching XF (other than Mrs M)let alone engage in conversation about it (and Mrs M won't do that - which is why I'm here).

As for you other comments about time-shifting, I don't really talk to people about tv, as I said, but I was surprised to read on here that people didn't time-shift everything.

Some good comments, truth is it never been anything more than a follow up to Stars In Their Eyes & is basically a jokey show aimed at a certain audience (young girls & bored middle aged tone deaf housewives). It just encourages deluded people who either want a instant fix for fame or someone has bullshit them into believing they are good with the "You should enter X Factor" crap.On times it's comedy gold & without the likes of Wagner & Rylan it fails miserably as this year as shown. How can anyone take a programme seriously that is run by a megalomaniac who has no musical talent himself?
