Ok, so brilliant telly for the money and great 15 year old Technics HD505 stereo system. No av outs on the tv so I've gone from the digi optical out to a conversion box and then to the av ins of the stereo. Was great for a couple of weeks and then suddenly only half volume from the tv through the stereo, tested other stuff and they all come through as half volume. The cd tuner and md all boom away through the amp but it seems anything plugged into the av EXT IN is only half volume. I've tried ipod and even tried tv headphone to the stereo av's, even with different cables but still the same.

Gutted, is the stereo knackered, or at least the sockets?

If everything plugged into the Ext is now at half vol, that's fairly conclusive proof that some internal fault has developed in the Technics. Time to see a competent repairman.
