X Factor finalist Luke Friend has said that he thinks people don't want him in the final.

The 17-year-old, who knocked out initial favourites Tamera Foster and Rough Copy in recent sing-offs, speculated that viewers have only held back their true feelings because they're not "really rude".

He told Digital Spy: "I like people voicing their opinions. No-one's ever come up to me physically and said, 'You shouldn't be through' - I know people think that, but unless they're really rude [they won't voice it].

"If it was week one and I was in the bottom two with Tamera, I wouldn't have stood a chance. But you've got to think that you're in this for a reason. People like you. You must be doing something right."

He's the only one I *want* in the final that's in it, haha.

Yeah, being in the bottom 2 three times must be a killer to self esteem. And Al Sugar is a troll, I don't know how anyone takes him seriously. There's a point when so much vile comes out of someones mouth that you just take them with a grain of salt.

He was unfortunate to enter on a year when they decided to bring back sing offs in weeks 8 and 9. Any 'normal' year on those weeks he'd have automatically gone through and Tamera and RC would have left with bottom vote. So he'd have only had one sing off, against Sam C.

As for not being wanted, I wonder if he's read or heard anything about the judges being told to put RC through - we certainly discussed it enough on here because of what happened to Mary and Cher. Then there was Louis' unfortunate comment on the radio, that if they were the last two he'd want Nicholas to win - that must have upset Luke.

Then of course there was Louis strange lack of response when Luke was announced as going through (which unfortunately was caught on camera).

True about there not usually being a sing off in the semi final and really there shouldn't have been, but there's been a sing off in Week 8 every year since Series 7 so it would have been more abnormal for them not to have had one in Week 8 now.

Did he - I missed that - I'll have to watch it back

The first year Louis has had two acts in the final, you'd think he'd be buzzing

Nick and Sam B also looked shocked, but I don't think it was lack of respect for Luke. Maybe it was decided beforehand that this was to be the way no matter who went through. Louis by all account is thrilled to have both boys in the final and RC want either of the boys to win, and made that clear in three different interviews.

Of course plenty of people want him in the final, everyone who have been voting for him certainly does, which must be a lot of people, or he wouldn't have made it to the final three.

It's a shame he feels that way, but it is nice that he isn't arrogant and over-confident though. A noticeable contrast to the attitudes of Rough Copy, who appear to think the final is a complete waste of time now that they are not in it.

If people don't want him in the final, who the hell does he think is voting for him? The fairies?

I like Luke but this statement is bullshit.

That's a shame. His sing off was really dire but he deserved it way more than rough copy for his other performances.

There has always been a bottom 2 in Week 8 when it's the Final 5 the only time I can think of that there wasn't was in Series 5 but the majority of the others series there has been a sing off .

I know, it was series 5 I was thinking of, when Ruth was eliminated.

That's a shame if true, he deserves to be there just as much as the other 2 IMO - I was so pleased he got through as was convinced he was going over RC

Luke should ignore the negative stuff that everyone gets.

He has got persistently better with every single week and that sing off he did with Tamera that absolutely blew her to kingdom come, made me like him even more.

Nobody has tried harder to sing each song like he's singing it to you and meaning every single word - which from one so young is hard to do as they haven't lived.

I think being a busker has taught him well.

As Gary says he's a musician not just a singer so he sees it as a long term career (I hope).

Win or lose I hope we haven't seen the last of Luke.

I think Sam will probably win and I don't wish anything against her. She's been note perfect all the way through and can sing absolutely anything and she's still young enough to appeal to a wide audience. I just hope she can bring out an album that isn't just full of very old cover versions or that will be it for her.

I don't want Nicholas to win he has no personality.

Luke or Sam for me.
