Her child didn't batter an eyelid when Lucy used the F-word, unless she said fig, and for effect, ITV bleeped out the word!

I suspect it's common at home.

Yes .Just something else where Amy outshines her, an ability to use decent language without resorting to F bombs .Common as muck and clearly the child is used to it .

I'd like to think not! However I thought she may have said toss, and they just bleeped it out to be safe....probably shouldn't say that in front of your young child but much better than the F Word!

Doesnt make it right though - & I'm a Lucy fan.
I find it disgusting when I hear people swearing front of their young kids & even worse when they find it perfectly normal for those kids to swear back - but what else can you expect in that sort of household

Glad someone posted about this. Her little girl is too young for her mother to be talking like that in front of her.

It's a bit chavvy but I don't think it's a huge deal. I don't think kids are really harmed by it... there are far worse things that annoy me when it comes to parents doing things in front of kids (smoking, when parent's do irresponsible/dangerous things/stunts etc.).

My parents swear like troopers around me and my sisters - always have done even when we were little. None of us siblings swear a lot. I probably swear once every few days. My parents swear every other sentence. I don't think it catches.

It is NOT . There is and never ever has been any swearing in our house . Our parents wouldn't dream of swearing and having respect for our parents we also would never swear .
I can also say the same for any of my relatives and friends families.

I was on a bus about 20 years ago when a young mother called her daughter a ####ing spastic.

I was astonished and I'm no prude.

There really is no excuse for swearing in front of or at your kids

I don't have any friends who would use that sort of language in front of children in, or out, of their homes and I certainly wouldn't.

It surprises me that anyone thinks its "normal".

if people think not swearing in front of kids will stop them for swearing it will not they will be swearing as kids and when they are adults they will, you will not ever stop people from swearing not ever which is OK.

Pretty tacky in my opinion. I've never liked it when parents swear in front of little kids. It's really not hard to think of a substitute word when in the company of children imo (if you're a naturally considerate person, that is.)

That's not really the point, though. You might never stop these things happening, but as a parent (or a responsible adult) you should still try your best. Don't just give up trying because you think the fight's lost, so to speak, especially if you're a parent. Yes, swearing is not a major issue in the grand scheme of things, but the 'oh, well' approach to parenting isn't good in any situation.

It's really not very nice but it's far from uncommon.

It's her child - it's her decision. I'm certainly not gonna get my knickers in a twist over it ............I'm quite sure I let the odd profanity slip in front of my kids when they were small.

Hardly a hanging offence but never the less good ammunition for some to castigate her with.

Moaning about it is one thing, being shocked about it, well you don't live in the real world if you are.
