Cant get ANY 3G signal from Vodafone...
For the last month I cant get a signal for playing videos from my moby - From about 50 milrs from my house its just not working - making calls and sending texs are fine-started whenI had my simm upgraded -its not the simm as ive checked -Vodafone went through the settings and got it working for 3 hours then it lost connection - they now say its bad coverage of 3g in my area. - I dont thats the case for a 50 mile distance from my house - any advice to get this sorted? Was fine a few weeks ago

If it is really 50 miles then that area would cover a very large number of 3G cells unless you're in the Scottish highlands, so it sounds like a faulty phone. |

I would visit a Vodafone store so that they can look at your phone settings again and see that it has no 3G, they should be able to try another sim or look at replacing the handset if it's faulty.

4G can't affect 3G really as it is different frequencies and you said you don't have any 3G for 50 miles, if that's the case the settings are wrong or the phone is faulty. So take it into the Vodafone store within the 50 mile radius and show then it not working and they'll have to agree to a replacement handset as they will see it's not working.
Does the Vodafone coverage map show indoor 3G when you put your postcode in? |

What else is new? ![]() In all seriousness, What phone do you have? Have you tried forcing the phone to 3G only and seeing what happens? |

Sony Xperia. How do I force it to 3G only?
Then tap on network mode. It should give you 2 or 3 options. GSM= 2G, WCDMA= 3G. So first post here which one is selected. Then try clicking on WCDMA Only/Preferred or something like that. What happens then? Also when you say 3G are you referring to phone signal or internet browsing? |

Ah, ok.
It seems there could be an issue there then. So if you tap on WCDMA only the signal drops out completely? Well then your original assumption of not being able to get any 3G at all is 100% correct. Are there any other places that you can try that you know have good Voda 3G coverage to rule out just your area as an issue. For example is there any town/area near you that has good 3G coverage according to the Voda coverage checker. If you force your phone to WCDMA only in one of those areas you may find that 3G works? If not then it's most likely a phone/sim issue and i'd take it back to voda for them to look at and fix/replace. What puzzles me is that you say it worked a few weeks ago. Are you sure it's not just a coverage issue? |

Go to voda shop and ask them if they have a cell site in the back as most mobile phone shops from the networks do.... If they have its 99.9% likely to be a 3G cell.... If your phone ain't working there then you know its duff

If you set your phone to WCDMA only and then do a network scan what shows up?
Also when you say 50 miles do you mean it actually works again after that or that's all you've tried? And do you know anybody within 50 miles who also has Vodafone? |
