Hi there,

I've decided to take the plunge and get a Three SIM as my Vodafone contract is up on 19th December.

I have ordered a Three SIM which should be delivered soon, but when I phoned Vodafone yesterday for the PAC code they said if I used it before the 19th then there would be a charge of £9.99?

I was just making sure that if I waited until after the 19th before using the PAC code I would not loose my number once the Vodafone contract ends (it's quite a good number and would like to keep it).

Just hoping I'm ok with Three - I loved their DATA speeds when I got a temp SIM to try out a little while back, but reception at home was very patchy.

Just their deal of £12.50/month for unlimited DATA, 200mins and loads of texts was too good to pass up.

vodafone will not cut you off when your contract ends. so from their perspective you can use it any time from when you got it to when it expires.

if you use it before your contract ends it also terminates your account, so they will charge you. if you use it after the contract end date you will pay a pro rata amount of the month you use. you also need to be careful you don't go over your pro rata limits in this time.

the only question then is when three will let you use your pac. as in do you have to give it them straight away. or can you use your new phone for a period.

They did not have a box for the PAC code when I ordered the SIM last night, so hopefully I can do it when I activate the SIM (hopefully somebody else knows)?

Cheers for the reply, Mark.

You fill out a form on the Three website with your PAC, number and new SIM details, and they transfer the number over within a couple of days.

I guess it's ok to activate and start using the SIM when my Vodafone contract is up and then fill out the form after its been activated?

Cheers Mark.

Yes. All networks allow later port-in now.
