Well if they make good on that promise to increase the data allowance for those already on 4G I'll be very pleased.

they'll all do it eventually.

they need to use that expensive 4G spectrum and to relieve pressure on their 3G.

the question is how they can do it whilst still extracting money from people willing to pay for it.

Pathetic - still too expensive. Some networks will do anything to keep the poultry data caps in place.

There 4G tariffs are now the same or cheaper then 3G by the look of it.

The starting prices are pretty much the same as their top/mid end 3G prices.

So its a good move and one I agree with. Hopefully they'll start doing what EE have been doing and have some low end 4G phones at a cheaper price per month than high end phones rather than having them all at the same price.

Very confusing that they now have a 3G sim only and 4G sim only tariff that are the exact same

The biggest gripe I have is most networks still insist on forcing all 4G contract customers to pay for unlimited minutes whether they want them or not. Particularly pointless as you can use your 4G, or your minutes, but never both at the same time.

i have a mate who asked vodafone about upgrading to 4G on his mid contract HTC one.

they said it was only for new customers at the moment. and when it was available he'd have to swap his phone for another one.

EE's pricing has already been dropped significantly twice this year.

Interestingly it looks like I can cancel my £5 a month O2 4G supplement now as I'm e eligible to get it for free, yet O2 haven't said anything to me about it.

Does anybody know when this will be valid? Or if they are offering the 4G upgrade just now to existing customers?

This is good news for O2 customers in areas where they have 4G available.

As the networks provide 4G capacity I expect they will try and encourage uptake to shift those with 4G facilities on their phones onto the new service allowing them to relieve pressure on 3G where it may be close to capacity.

There is sense in the balance between monetising data and providing packages for general use in the most efficient manner with the equipment that customers have. O2 seem to be on that track but EE seem to be sticking to their high price strategy whilst they have the coverage advantage. Interesting watching the differences, lets see how the genuinely available 4G deals on offer from all the networks appeal to consumers.
