I'm looking to buy a Sonos Play System either a Play 1 or the more expensive Play 5. Does anubody have any thoughts or advice at all? I have wi-fi but would broadband here is a little slow and would I need to use Ethernet and how do I know if I can get it? I'll join Spotify or similar - does that go to my PC or laptop and play direct or gets downloaded to add songs to my music library and to make Playlists, for example.
Bit of a Luddite when it comes to technology...

If you are planning on buying more than one unit you may like to add the Sonos bridge too. Even with just one Play device it does need to be connected via Ethernet to your router somehow. Once connected and using the Sonos controller for your computer, phone of tablet (where supported) you can access your music library and Internet radio. Spotify is available directly on Sonos as well as many other music sites or radio channels. It doesn't need much in the way of bandwidth but it will use your download some of your download capacity when streaming radio.

I have not tested the new Play1 but did a test of the Play 3 and Play 5 over several days. The Play 3 had a very good sound but I eventually went for the 5 as it was slightly better. Setup is a doddle as is controlling it from the iPad and iPhone.

You currently get a free bridge when you buy Play:1 3 or 5

I have a play:3 and 5, they are fantastic.

Mostly use spotify and radio with them but I do have a nas hard disk with loads of MP3's which it can play

I have the Play:3 in the kitchen with the play:5 in the living room.

The bridge work's a dream and setting it up it soooooo easy.
