I can't believe Susie Dent is 46. She looks a good ten years younger.

The trouble is it isn't funny. Every time Jon says he has a nine I just think "here we go" and wait for him to say something stupid. And it's obviously just for Sean's pride, although I don't blame him. I wouldn't want to go on a show that I kept losing and that made me feel stupid.

It's a difficult situation because Jon is clearly very bright and good at both the letters and the numbers, so if he tries he will pretty much always win, which wouldn't be much fun for Sean and would defeat the purpose of the show a bit. But I don't find the making up of words funny; it annoys me that he's losing on purpose. I guess the only solution would be to not do the show any more, so perhaps Jon failing on purpose is the lesser of two evils.

I had never seen the comedian in dictionary corner before
Didn't enjoy his DOND spiel at all but the erotic passage with words filled in was good albeit unoriginal

Was this the last Catsdown? I enjoy it but they could surely get back to the normal studio show now

Obviously neither of us knows how Sean really feels about doing the show, but I get the impression that he doesn't give a shit if he loses every week. He's a comedian, not a sportsman.

Think you're taking the game element of the show too seriously.

If you don't find it funny and it annoys you, then why watch it?

A solution would be to put an intelligent comedian/celeb on Sean's team and a standard one on Jon's team to even the odds.

I first saw him on Weekly Wipe. He's got some vids on Youtube. Don't know if he does standup or anything else, i've only see the condensed show skits.

The series was originally to be 6 episodes but they tagged on filming for an extra two. Next week they are showing episode 7 which is to be the last in the series, so the 8th one must be a special to be shown at a later date. They always film 2 shows on the same night with around a 1 hour break in filming.

I think he likes being hit by women. I'm sure they are many women who'd be happy to do that.

It worked with Jo Brand, but I was surprised at Bill Bailey - I thought he'd be better than he was at both words and numbers

Richard Osman is on next episode. And they've put him on Jon's team.
Sean gets Bob Mortimer - Bob is no idiot but I have a feeling he's more into the fun of the show and not the quiz element.

I avoid the whole programme purely because of him.

Nope. 7th ep is next week. That's the last of the series.
The previous 2 series have had 6 episodes.

Richard Osman is a producer of the show, so can easily make himself available to appear as a guest.

I think Joe is really funny at times but dull at others but then I think Jon is dull sometimes and Sean and Jimmy's 30 second stuff. When they're all on form they're really on form.

I'd like to see a special where Jon and Sean are on the same team or where Rachel teams up with Sean with Joe doing rachels job on his own. I think that would really freshen it up

Who would verify Rachel's maths if she was actually playing the numbers game?

What is there to verify, seeing as she writes down each step for all to see?

You do understand this is primarily a comedy show? If you're getting annoyed can I suggest you tune into the actual Countdown instead. It's probably more up your street...

If Rachel's a contestant then someone has to check she's not cheating or makes a mistake with having to complete the numbers in 30 seconds. Rachel could say, for instance, (75+7) x 8 is 654 + 4 and divide by 2 makes 329. Who would notice that it was wrong and it's not 10 points for Rachel?

Maybe a bad example there as you've added two odd numbers - answer must be even, then every other number is even so you couldn't get 329 as a result as it's odd. So we know the lovely Rachel is telling porkies even without having to do the maths!
Anyway I'm sure even Joe Wilkinson can operate a calculator so its not going to be insoluble

Your logic doesn't work so you've just proved you do need someone to check it.

(75+7) x 8 is 656 (not 654 as I put in the deliberately wrong example)

(75+5) x 8 is 654

So substituting one odd number (7) for another odd number (5) makes it correct.
