I really like Rob and Aisling so quite looking forward to new Cats, but like others have said, I will miss Sean and Jon. Glad C4 haven't axed the show though, was getting worried they had.
Wonder if putting the show on More4 is a way to try and boost the channel somewhat, but does seem an off choice, but hopefully ratings will be good enough to keep the series going.

Rob? That's that for me, then.

Urgh cant stand rob beckett he will be on about his teeth every five minutes. Why arent Jon and Sean doing the main show. Sean comes up with some great one liners

Cats does Countdown has become boring. It's just the same thing every week. It's the same jokes now too. They are out of ideas. It doesn't help that Countdown itself is an incredibly boring game show.

Without Sean, there is no 8 out of 10 cats, he made the show for me. I like Jon, but i can deal with him leaving because he hasn't been part of the show as long as Sean.

Sean can't be replaced in my opinion, his humour worked for the show, you won't find that with Rob Beckett or Aisling Bea.

Sean not being on it anymore is enough for me to not watch it, but Rob Beckett replacing him means i won't even give it a chance now. What were they thinking, Rob Beckett isn't that popular is he ?

Probably got the right agent - That's how most of these panel shows work.

Sean Locke is so dry and deadpan (wonderfully so) that in Beckett and Bea we now have the opposite of that.

Not sure how it'll work. Think Bea and Beckett should be doing the Countdown version.

Just as i suspected, watched the entire episode from start to finish (aside from the frequent pauses to drool over rachel .. dear god she looked amazing!).

It could have only really been improved by having Adam Buxton in dictionary corner i suppose.

Sadly, next week is back to "normal"

Richard Ayoade (in for Sean) and Rob Beckett against Jon and .."shudder".. Claudia Winkleman. Adam Riches (?) in Dictionary Corner.

I don't get the love for Rob Beckett at all, or understand what he's supposed to be. Every time he's on Mock the Week he gets shown up by the likes of Hugh Dennis and Romesh Ranganathan.

She did indeed in that gold dress. Nice to see VCM on the show being more natural and smiley. Her Only Connect persona of being a bit weird and stern is not really her I think, but this weeks Cats does Countdown reminded me of how lovely she really is.

Susie is on the Celebrity Chase on ITV at 7PM. It'll be interesting to see how tall she is standing up & how good her general knowledge is.

Good episode last night. Everyone on good form and no-one going OTT trying to be too funny.

Rachel is gorgeous. But cats does countdown is crap now. Same old same old, and Rob Bennet is boring as eff.

He was on a radio show recently, and I had to switch it off. Annoying loud cockney git!

Just noticed Joe Lycett is the actual Countdown Dictionary Corner guest from Friday, is that the first time one of the 8 out of 10 Countdown lot have actually appeared in the 'normal' Countdown?

Well yeah, apart from having a different face and body, she does share some similarities with Carol Vorderman. They're both women, for a start.

Some of her mannerisms, too.

I actually watched this programme twice, firstly "live" on Saturday and then the Sunday repeat. I can report that the Chris Hoy Loves a Saveloy song actually improves on repeated hearing.

Been looking forward to this. I hope he does well.

He's not the first to do both: Jimmy Carr was in DC years ago, Jo Brand too. David Baddiel turned up on the regular show shortly after appearing on this.

my sky box has seemingly refused to record this episode despite being series linked and having no clashes.

i even cancelled the recording and re-recorded it and it didn't even start

Every so often a 'comedian' comes along and you find nothing that they say remotely funny.

In my case it's Richard Ayoade yet the audience laugh at everything that he says

How many more times do we have to hear about the countdown timer putting them off?
