Sam Bailey and VERSATILITY
So you want her to be diverse and sing different styles of songs [contemporary, upbeat, disco, ballad] but your not happy for her to sing them as they are you want her to change the songs so they don't sound like the originals.
But when she does that [candle in the wind] it takes away from the subtlety of the original? Talk about making someone jump through hoops to impress you I get the feeling that no matter what she did people would still find something to pick at her about. As someone on here so eloquently put 'This is a competition. When you compete, you go out there and do what you do best in order to win. You DON'T go out there and do stuff that would put you outside of your comfort zone just to please people. You wouldn't see Wayne Rooney playing in goal just because people are fed up with watching him score goals.' |

if wayne rooney went out every week and did the same thing then defenders would know what to expect and be able to defend against him so he would quite quickly struggle to score goals
flawed analogy I'm afraid |

flawed analogy I'm afraid He has to go out there and do the same thing every week because that's his niche He just has to go out there and deliver his niche to a high standard. Be better than all the other players Be stronger and fitter and more confident in his niche than ever before That's a winner |

nope yet again you show your lack of understanding about what being predictable means

My point is If you know the artists work
If you know their style, what they excel at. That they're goin to send shivers down your spine That they're not gonna let you down and deliver a flawless performance Beyonce Tina turner Rihanna Celine What does predictability matter I don't wanna be taken by surprise I wanna sit back, enjoy the show and the music and feel safe in the knowledge that I'm gonna get a thumping good concert |

and as I said in the other thread if listening to a second rate copy of those acts does it for you then I'm happy for you
theres hundred's of people all over the country that can do decent karaoke like sam does , she was just lucky that she got the chance to do it in a year where the competition was so poor |

She's the most versatile left.
She smashes every Ballad. She smashed Disco week. She smashed Big Band Week. She comes out on top every week with every song. |

But you didn't like when she changed candle in the wind?
Also a name would be helpful delivery of a song is as important as how strong you are vocally I could list a number of acts but I very much doubt my taste in music is the same as yours , and tbf I answered your question , anyone who doesn't just sing cover versions is by default an original artist someone who does cover versions but shows some artistry and musicianship to change the song and make it better at least attempt originality, like alex and sierra have been doing on XF USA for example |

no because she changed it into a power ballad which showed she didn't understand what the song was about

You know, there is a little bit of me, deep down inside, who really wants Sam to lose.
Nothing against Sam as I don't really care who wins, but just to hear the screams of outrage from certain fans that are so smug and self satisfied about how wonderful Sam is. I know it's not nice of me but certain people are really irritating with their inability to comprehend that Sam is not perfect and that some people just don't rate her. |

I honestly don't understand how you can accuse her of not being versatile, she has smashed absolutely every theme the show has thrown at her.
She's done ballads, up-tempo contemporaries, older up-tempo songs. She even manages to do well in all the group songs! Not to mention the audition stages. What are people honestly expecting her to pull out the bag? A drum n bass rave anthem? Bohemian Rhapsody in a capella? She's an absolute queen. |
