BT YouView Cancellation
Hi
I've had a BT (Humax) Youview box, with BT Essentials, for over a year and yesterday I rang to cancel the £5 per month. They claimed that if I did this all the recorded programmes would not play back and the box would NOT work as a normal Humax YouView box. Has anyone cancelled the £5 on a BT (Humax) box? What happened? |

Stuff recorded from the internet channels certainly won't playback. You can check this just by starting the box without the network connected.
Freeview recordings will playback fine though. Not sure about whether the EPG updates ok and further recordings of freeview channels plus on demand stuff like iplayer etc works ok once you cancel the essentials package |

As stated it will work fine as a freeview pvr. One thing to note if you stop paying is any use of iplayer et al will count towards your usage cap if you have one, so be careful or opt for unlimited broadband.
