Getting a bit tiresome hearing people whinging about miming/use of backing tracks all the time.

If you have paid to see an act in concert and they don't sing, then I think you have a good cause for complaint (unless a backing track was used in conjunction with an energetic dance routine which is different and completely acceptable imo). However on TV shows in small studios where the set up and environment often isn't ideal it has always been common for singers to use/consider using a backing track to make the make sure the song sounds good. It's a promotional activity for the song at the end of the day and Leona has nothing to prove re: her singing credentials.

All Syco acts are told to mime from time to time. 1D mimed on The X Factor, and other acts have mimed before as well. Unfortunately that's just how it is.

But if Leona had sang live and sounded busted, no doubt there would have been a 1000 threads on how she has "lost her voice". She has just got back from a whirlwind promo tour in America, and has to make sure her voice isn't worn out. Especially if recording for the 4th album is planned soon.

She didn't tour at the start of her career, but did a 20 date tour of the UK in 2010, toured with Art On Ice through Europe this year, then followed it up with a 24 date tour of the UK and Germany a couple months later. She has also said she is touring parts of Asia next year. So she is certainly making up for not touring to begin with.


Hope she gets well soon, and is able to deliver live vocals on her upcoming performances.

Not sure if you watched the youtube video above but she's obviously sick with a very heavy cold or flue. There is no way she can sing live right now anyway.

I've seen the performance. She's had quite a heavy schedule lately. But I think she needs to keep a close eye on her health as well. She does keep getting sick right in the middle of a promo campaign, it happened last year as well. I just hope she isn't being overworked.

With a vocalist like Leona, everyone knows she can deliver live, so I don't think it's that big of a deal for her. If she was relying on miming to put out an acceptable performance, then it would be different, but she has never done that.

Nah, the video link above is a vlog from leona today thanking her fans, but she sounds so ill and she says she has a flu. So she obviously couldnt perform live today even if she wanted to

People are entitled to air their views, both positive and negative. I really like Leona, but the point in the OP seemed fair. "Hater" is such an overused term, it makes me cringe.

It also shows up a weak argument when you have to focus on insulting other fms rather than just defending Leona.

As for taking jabs at what they've done with their life, what has that got to do with anything? What in this thread suggests they've done nothing with their life? Oh, you have to be a popstar to have done anything? By that logic, what have you done?

Prrsonal attacks show there isn't qany real answer to the points I've made. If leona is constantly suffering with her vocals every time she promotes then she needs to take action to rectify the problem. I accept that other run of the mill pop acts mime on tv but I thought Leona was supposed to be special.

At least she looked amazing! And as I said, its really not a bid deal. I seen her in concert this year and it was 110% live, that's all that matters at the end of the day!

Everyone doesn't lyp synch on This Morning. Those that sound inferior to the recorded version must be advised to do so by the label but some artists actually sound better live.
