^Indeed, it's certainly possible for Sarah Jane to have been the one to give the Doctor the relevant info - we know she tracked Ian down, along with several other companions.

What age is Clara? JC who plays her is 27 and more than old enough to be a teacher.

If I remember right, the last age I saw in the travel book she has listed her age as 24. But who knows if she kept it up.

Did anything on screen confirm that she was a fully-qualified teacher? I believe it's possible to work towards a full qualification while training on the job.

It's actually, or at least used to be, a requirement that you did on the job training. Student teachers in school and all that.

Since the Doctor found her at age 24, she had plenty of time to do any on the job training in the classroom. Then take some time off to take care of the kids and travel.

If she was found at 24, then she could definately be a fully qualified teacher! 3 years at undergraduate, and then a year for her PGCE. If she started UNI aged 18, then that would mean shes qualified at 22 or so.
