Panasonic DMR-BWT735
Has anyone got one of these?
If so, do you use it to copy programmes from a Sky+HD box; what's the quality like once written to disc? Also, how does the recorder handle dual layer discs; do you still have to finalise layer 1 first, or is it a seamless process? Thanks for any help |

This recorder like its predecessors ( 700 & 720 ) is quite the ultimate piece of kit it will record via scart ( remember them ) from a 2nd source but just bear in mind sky are never going to let you record in orig quality or break the copyright .
On the issue of dual layer discs , just move straight to bluray then thats the best way going forward . The quality of recording from freeview HD is stunning and just as the original material fro SD freeview . I have stored loads of mp3 and photos on mine . |

One other thing to remember. The only way you can record HD is via the built in tuner. You will not be able to record Sky HD programmes in HD even if you do use a Blu-Ray disk. The best you will get is HD downscaled to SD out of the Sky box.

Hi Chrisjr - yes I was aware of that; I had good results when copying to my old DMR-EZ28 but I believe RGB signals are not accepted by the 735 so I'm anxious to know what SD quality is like when written to disc compared to the "old days"
I'm hoping for a posting from someone who has upgraded as I'm considering! I'm sure the HD quality from the HDD written to Blu Ray is undoubted but its the DVD quality I'm concerned with. |
