Ok, so I'm useless at dressing up for nights out. Normally I dress really casually and go to really chilled out places, and this works fine for summer but when it gets to winter I feel really stuck.
I'm short (5ft 2) and size 10-12 but I have curves. I've just ordered a very plain dress like this:

The one I've ordered is in navy and because I'm short it won't be quite as short as in the picture. I was thinking of wearing it with quite a bold necklace. But I have no idea what to wear on my feet. I'm useless with heels.
I just want an idea of something I can put together to go for a few drinks with friends. Would it be ok to put this with a pair of ankle boots, do you think? If so, does anyone have any suggestions? I really have no idea what would look ok.
If I wore 'normal' heels I would just feel a bit tarty because the dress is quite clingy. Hence why I thought boots would be better. Am I right? Maybe it's because I'm quite curvy too, it would just feel a bit OTT for me to wear something tight, have my legs out, and wear high heels
I didn't want to wear tights because I always find they very obviously show through around the waist of the dress and create a slight bulge where they stop - just in this kind of close fitting dress I mean. So bare legs and boots I'd be more happy with.
Ordinarily I'd probably wear the dress with a pair of more rugged boots, that's more my kind of style. But I don't think it's the right look for a night out.
