HP Slate 7 vs Nexus 7 32GB 2012 vs Nexus 7 16GB 2013
I have just been given a HP Slate 7 as a work present, it's not a great tablet and I am considering upgrading before I open the box (ebay value around £70-£80).
At £149 is is possible to get a Nexus 7 2012 with 32GB or a Nexus 7 2013 with 16GB. As neither have an mSD slot the memory is important (the Slate does have a mSD slot). Not sure what to do....I could always just keep the Slate and 70-80 quid in my pocket...is the Slate that bad? It doesn't get great reviews....with its lower res screen and average processor... |

Slate7
I have a slate7 and find it very good for reading, playing music and surfing the internet. I have no problems with the resolution, but i do not play games on it and cannot comment on that side of things. As you mentioned you can expand up to 32gb without any problem
Hope this helps |

Nexus 7
My choice is between a Nexus 7 (2013) 16GB or 32GB.
I can get the 16GB with a staff discount at £166 but would have to pay the full price for the 32GB ~ is the 16Gb limit a problem in practice or is it just that the 32Gb is a 'nice to have'? |

Thanks for the advice. As for the 16GB question it depends on what you want to do with it. I have 16GB on my phone and am running out as apps like iplayer and spotify use internal memory only. Once the OS has taken a few GB it can be tight if you want to add music and videos of your own as well. If it's more books and streaming you are after then 16GB is fine. Also remember that big games can also take up a few GB so it can run out quite quickly....
Thinking now of keeping my Slate and save investing in another tablet until the new year sales if I want another for myself... |

Bear in mind that some games these days are getting fairly large. Real Racing 3 is well over 1gig - just one game. So it will possibly depend on your usage. |
