Plugging an Extension into another
Hi, I have a 4 way power adapter which is a decent one with surge protection. I've had to plug another one into it so that I can have my TV where I want it (I need 6 sockets behind the tv).
Is it safe? I only have 2 plugs into the 2nd extension, but I was desperate. Or is it best to get one of these - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Masterplug-S...extension+lead I have the 4 way one at the moment. Not sure what to do. Thanks. |

Yes, no problem as everything is fairly low current (don't go plugging heaters and kettles in though.

I was worried about overloading? In one wall socket, there's a 4 way adapter which has speakers, TV, Sky Box, and another 4 way adapter connected which has a PS4 and a PS3 connected to it. |

Add up all the wattage of everything plugged into the sockets and if it's less that 3000W then you'll be OK (assuming a 13A rated extension lead). My guess is that you'll be much less than 1000W with a tv, sky box, dvd player etc. A big 5.1 amp is only about 600W at full pelt.

![]() TV maybe 100W, Sky Box 40W, DVD player about the same. |

Really? All at one plug socket at the wall?
![]() As I said (and others have expanded) the loading is only VERY small - you could run more than 30 TV sets off a single 13A socket for example. The BIG users are heaters and kettles. Some modern vacuum cleaners are pretty thirsty as well, but still well under what a socket can supply. |
