In short No.
The box only has two outputs one HDMI, the other a minature 3.5mm jack socket with L+R audio and video. The video is NTSC (525lines 60Hz). So if your Tv only accepts PAL (625lines 50Hz) it will not work. I have heard that the jack socket output is different from maker to maker. So one made for a Sony Tv is different to that of a Philips Tv which maybe different for a Now Tv box. The 4 pole jack plug could have the 3 outputs plus ground in any order and you may have to buy one from Sky who will provide the correct jack plug to 3 phono lead connection. You will then need a phono to scart adaptor. After doing this it will only work if your Tv will accept NTSC. |

You can buy an HDMI to Scart adapter, they are priced between £25 to £50. A lot of the better later CRT TV's were able to accept NTSC signals so check the manual or on screen options to see if is there.

Before you spend any more money on getting this Now box to work. You might consider getting a Talktalk Youview box. you can play Now Tv on demand which is all the movies. This too has HDMI output and also a scart socket which gives PAL output 625 lines 50Hz which will be OK for your TV. I got one for £50 including postage off e bay. you also get a High Def Freeview 2 tuner 300gig recorder.

There is also a composite video and stereo out 3,5mm Jack on the Now tv box. This needs a lead which can be supplied with your box or you may have one already. You may also need a phono to scart adaptor, available at many pound shops. Yes, now tv will easily work on your old crt set

If you do get one, do yourself a favour and don't buy the cable from Sky. They charge £5 for it and you can get them cheaper elsewhere
Get one off of Ebay like this one (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-5mm-4-Po...item19d3173b9b) for a lot less at £1.89. You will also need a phono to scart adapter too. I already had one that came with my Sumvision Media Player, although it won't work on my HD Ready LCD, but will on my old Philips 42" Plasma. |

You have to register the box to get it to work. So you need a computer to go on line to Now TV.
You will need to set up a user name and password on your computer. Go to the next page and it will ask you for your address and credit card details even if you have no intention of subscribing. Do not fill this in and just exit. To make sure your user name and password are good log in and see if it is accepted. Your user name and password can now be entered in the Now box and it will work. |

Has anyone managed to get playto to work? I saw conflicting views about Playto not being compatible with the NowTV box and others who claim it is compatible and they have it up and running.
I have the playto app on my tablet happily accessing all manner of content. I have the playto channel installed on my TV. But I can't get the TV to show anything. Incidentally, saw an android NowTV box remote control app. Works well and overcomes the sheer hassle of using the NowTV supplied remote to enter text. It's here:https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...avore.rokumote |

Happy New Year all… I wonder if anyone could help with my musings…
I'm in the US, if I buy a SKY Now box and run it through a proxy server to get a UK IP, I think that I should be able to use the Sky box in the US. My primary interest here is BBC inlayer and not Sky at all. I'l connect the Sky box to an HDMI display, which should avoid the PAL/NTSC question. The concern I have is power. Does anyone know if the SkyBox power supply will convert 110v to the required input if I just use a power plug adaptor, or will I need a transformer? If I do need a transformer can anyone help with the specs for a replacement power supply that will work on 110v in the US? Thanks for all of your help |

The power supply that comes with the Now TV box accepts 100-240v so you won't need a transformer, just an adapter for it to fit into a US outlet. You don't need a VPN either, a Smart DNS service such as Overplay will work and will give you access to all of the UK based catch up services. Take a look at this: https://www.overplay.net/blog/now-tv...#comment-28923 The only issue you will have is there's no way to manually set the IP/DNS details on the Now TV box itself so you will need to make sure you can change the DNS settings on your ISP Router. Many thanks for this, it's exactly what I need to hear!
I plan to hand a second router off my primary router. The secondary will have the SmartDS options so that the Sky Box will be 'in' the UK and the other computers in the house are still on US IP and thus not upset online Banking and other local services. Not a problem for you though as the Now box outputs at 60Hz anyway. |

Hi Skyboxusa,
The NowTV box is pretty good, and if you use OverPlay's Smart DNS, you'll find it is configured for BBC iPlayer, 4oD, Demand 5 and Sky's own Now TV package (including the live feeds). Works pretty good, and you can find a review of it here, along with each of the working services. Wait until you get the box though before buying a US Power supply, as mine was a different sized plug socket to my Roku 3 (if you were using a US Roku box as a guide). |

I also have an old CRT TV. Am I right in thinking I could buy: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1109156975...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT (3.5mm 4 Pole Jack Plug to 3 x Phono Phonos AV out Lead TV Cable short 15cm) and http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Scart-to-S...item27beb98fe0 (Scart to SVHS & 3 x RCA Phono Converter box TV Adaptor) and there'd definitely be no problems with using a Now TV box? thanks |

The output from the Now Tv box uses the American system which is NTSC 3.57 MHz 60 frames. The UK system is PAL 4.43MHz 50 frames. Some TVs will be able to handle the American system some will not, with conditions of reduced height, rolling picture and no colour. It will not be your TV that is faulty it will be the system you are trying to use is not compatable. |
