No, I'm not Steven Moffat!

I was wondering what we would like to see done in doctor who, be it a setting, prop, villain or a full blown story idea!

I would really like a medieval story, some of the imagery from that era is so odd and unnerving, particularly the plague doctors : http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/i/20...cy-d2qq5g3.jpg

I think that as a disguise for/ a villain that could be very scary, especially with the right lighting!

So, what do you think of my idea? And what are yours?

I am not certain on this but didn't they first wear beak masks in the 17th century? So it wouldn't be in the Medieval era .

As for what I want I want the Drahvins,Yeti, The Great intelligence and Macra to return. Plus a decent cybermen story.

The payoff, of course, would be when the mask was removed to reveal an identical face beneath. bp2's scruples about dates might well be right, though.

The costumes of the Vanir in Terminus were based on mediaeval representations of corpses and shrouds, and worked very well, imo.

What I'd most like to see in Doctor Who is the return of the Mechanoids. I quite fancy a story in which the Doctor encounters an explorer hacking his way through the jungle in search of the lost city of Paris (or Huddersfield, or Rio de Janeiro, or Dundee), who finds instead a bright new city being built by the Mechanoids (a remnant survived the Dalek attack, and now travel from planet to planet, building a succession of futuristic cities for colonists who will never arrive).

I'd love to see Ancient Egypt, maybe an ancient pharaoh or Cleopatra.

A new Doctor has to face the Daleks, it's like they are not the Doctor properly till they do!

Other than that, the return of the Master (have Simm regenerate tho) and have it be a shock he's back too.
Something like the regen is revealed to The Doctor on security footage and it turn out to be someone who has been in the story from very early on so its a shock to both him & us.

Oh, and Kate, Unit and a classic invasion story like the Pertwee era!

I think Cleopatra has been done many times in one way or another: http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Cleopatra and we had Queen Nefertiti in Snakes on a Plane, sorry I mean Dinosaurs on a space ship.

Norse Mythology setting would be good
Stonehenge based story near the date of one of the solstice'
Ancient Turkey
I fully expect more stories based on events from stateside history, with the ever growing enthusiasm that side of the pond
Susan re-visit would be cool
As for actual storylines, hmm, let me think on this one ......

ok this ain't great and a bit over-engineered but what about:

A Doctor Who Stalker from a remote planet (child orphan who is amazed with how doctor saved his planet and sees him as his surrogate dad initially) becomes obsessed with him and so stows away on the tardis. The doctor is unaware, this stalker secretly watches the doctor for a few episodes in every adventure the doctor takes. Stalkers' admiration grows and grows, but in the same way the stalker is growing and growing - a wierd side effect their Alien DNA being in the presence of the time energy in the TARDIS at such a young age. In future episodes, we know they are there, because we get to see them every episode just watching observing and occaisonally tinkering in the Doctors episodes, the doctor doesn't know they are there.

Eventually, the stalker becomes brave, and comes out of their shell and reveals them self to the doctor one day by saving him from a near death situation. The doctor is in gratitude, not recognising them or realising they have been on this tardis. By this point the child is almost an adult because of the rapid growth. This young adult becomes a companion of the doctor. The companion eventually becomes part of the doctors adventures, but in fact they become drunk with the power of being on Team Doctor, until eventually they start thinking they are the doctor. They try and show off, put the doctor into jeapordy, almost screws things up a few times until fatally causing the accidental death of someone. This totally brings out an "oncoming storm" style rant from the doctor and he loses it with this companion. He then checks out tardis records and finds out they stowed away and he has been misled.

The doctor is devastated, feels betrayed, banishes the companion. The stalker then develops deep seated hatred fuelled by the rejection by his idol, in fact this doctor was not what he thought they were. The stalker now believes they are the real doctor, (or atleast their interpretation of the doctor, a dark angry powerful man, capable of dictating situations not helping them)

Driven by their gloated sense of self, the stalker who was discarded by the doctor as punishment becomes more and more twisted in the pitiful life they now have in absence of the doctor. They also realise strange powers, as a consequence of absorbing time energy during the rapid growth from child to adult while hiding on the TARDIS. In addition, the anger inside them is eating at them and becoming bitter resentment of the Doctor. And there - a new nemesis is born, one with an intimate knowledge of the doctor having experienced life on the inside of the TARDIS. Somehow, they get a limited form of time/space travel (some spaceship crashes on the planet they are stuck on), and they begin their revenge by attacking previous companions of the doctor, selectively plucking them from space and time (because they represent the ones who got love from the companion, not anger like he did) and their hatred grows and grows until they become a recurring heel in the Doctors side ...

No, no, no! Every Doctor must face The Daleks, even Paul McGann has if you include the audios.

I would like them to be given a rest for a couple of series though.

I would really like to see something with Amelia Earhart. I really like it when they explain certain gaps in history.

A Doctor-lite story about someone trying to make a documentary on the Doctor, and getting almost everything comically wrong. I like what was did with "Love and Monsters" when it came to how people and viewed the Doctor, as well as the opening to "Jubilee".

Something about the Sontaron-Ruton battle. We really need to actually see them in combat.

More stories featured outside Britain/USA. It's a big world, so I'd like to see more of it. I really want a story in Japan, either a few centuries in the past, with old-fashioned samurai, or a few centuries in the future, with cyborg samurais.

Yeah I'd like to see both of these,
Not necessarily Japan but any South East Asian setting would be good, I think it would be a nice change of scenery.

Also ...... Vikings, maybe in a story set in Greenland or North America?

Australia/New Zealand pre-colonisation?

...basically a historical story that takes us out of the British and European settings we've been more used to in the past.

Also, of all the Doctor's past acquaintances, and despite the fact he was last seen going off with Mel, I'd love to find out what happened to Glitz

I have to say the last series brought a few of my wishes: a full alien planet story (Rings of Akhaten), a story set inside the TARDIS (Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS) and, a little less conceptually, a new stone-cold Moffat classic on a par with his best stories(The Name of the Doctor).

Some more of my wishes:

~ A pure historical, with no Sci-Fi element. I agree with the O.P that a medieval setting would be cool too; it hasn't actually been done that much in Doctor Who.

~ A story using the backdrop of some really spectacular natural scenery, like they did in the Impossible Astronaut. I understand the financial and logistical reasons for it, but Doctor Who has been way too UK bound over the years, as beautiful as England's green and pleasant land is. This could quite easily overlap with the above idea, compensating for any worry they may have that a pure historical wouldn't have enough spectacle (a premise I disagree with).

~ A strong, high-concept episode, like Blink or Midnight or Love & Monsters (like it or hate it, it was a bold episode). There have been a few attempts at that in recent series, thinking about episodes like 'The Girl who Waited', but they ended up too much like a typical episode of Doctor Who for me. I want one like the three I mentioned that really dares to be its own story with its own format, rather than trying to check off all the usual Doctor Who boxes, and settling into the usual dramatic and comedic beats.

~ I'm not big on returning characters or enemies generally but... Ian Chesterton! Do it whilst William Russell is still around and it's possible.

~ A story I personally have wanted to write myself for Doctor Who for a long time is one revolving around the extinction of the neanderthals. I think it could be very moving.

I remember our drama teacher one year made us sketch out a plot for a Doctor Who episode as part of our work on screenplays. The work was mostly terrible (including my own) but someone came up with the idea of the Doctor and his companion being captured on a "fairground" planet, and in order to earn his companions freedom he must compete in a series of challenges against numerous foes - Daleks, Cybermen etc - and come out victorious. That was years ago, so you could incorporate more modern enemies into it, but that idea always stuck with me and I'd love it to come to life.

Celestial Toymaker story waiting to happen!

I'd also like a really good, properly scary Cyberman story. I like the idea of The Doctor coming across an abandoned conversion factory, with horrific half-converted people; they'd be too close to human for him to kill them as easily as proper Cybermen, but they're almost insane. A kind of Asylum of the Daleks for Cybermen.

Obviously not all at once, but over time I'd love it if one or two of these ideas could be explored.

- I second/third/fnarg the notion of an Amelia Earhart story. Would be brilliant.

- A two-parter revolving around the Bermuda Triangle - an ominous blind spot on the planet, war planes, colonial battle ships, Christopher Colombus, and a woman who claims to have lived forever.

- We need another genuinely creepy story, as it's been too long. Nothing has compared to either The Empty Child or Midnight in that department, in my opinion. I think The Birdmen would make for a creepy villain...and their role as physicians would allow for some creepy/dark likenesses to the Doctor himself. http://sylvaansuz.files.wordpress.co...12/plague8.jpg

- A story involving an outer space equivalent to a lighthouse.

- A story involving The Trickster. A nice nod to SJA, prolonging the continuity of the spin-off and crossing over one of its most iconic and memorable villains.

- An episode that blends real life with cartoons... the world is becoming a drawing or something. Just make it much better and much more artistic than Fear Her

- Bring back the Sea Devils, or a new Sontaran story...it's been a while.

- If and when the Daleks return I'd love to see a new Dalek Emperor - the one seen in The Eternity Clock was fantastic (personally, the only thing I liked about the game).

As others have said a Sontaran Vs Rutan story would be good.

I've suggested before that they do sequel to Fang Rock. Have the Doctor turn up a few hours/days after the events of FR just before 2 new ships (one Sontaran, one Rutan) arrive. Throw in a few humans as cannon fodder (have them investigating the deaths from the orginal).

Either that or set it in the future where a small human colony becomes the setting for the latest skirmish in the Sontaran Rutan war.

If Moffat and Co does make a deal with Peter Jackson about him directing an episode then they really should do some filming in New Zealand.

I want to see the Virgin new adventures adapted once again, like human nature which was an amazing two parter, some of the new adventures books were great stories and with some adaptation could make great stories. my personal favourite was this one
http://www.drwhoguide.com/who_na09.htm

would need a fair bit of re-writing as its part of an arc but would work as a standalone, and a great way to write out a companion, if a companion is leaving of course.

would also love to see the Timewyrm series adapted into a series arc.
