What is the lead time currently sitting at?
Didn't get a chance to get on last night as I was watching the 'fitba'. I've only had 2 laps at it but the race format is definitely more my thing than the time trials. I just don't have the perseverance to put in the laps required to get that 'perfect' lap. Speaking of turns, I must bump the list as I haven't seen it in ages. |

You can include me in the challenge list if you want. Happy to set a time that most of you can immediately beat

I really dislike the drift events, always have in racing games though, probably has something to do with how rubbish I am but then I never spend too much time on them anyway, catch 22!!
I've only got a small handful of stars to pick up in the race events and I've still got loads of the drift ones to get, I only try them if I'm needing stars to unlock the next level. I wish the private lobbies would hurry up though, whilst I enjoy the multiplayer racing most of the time it can be incredibly frustrating with the players who just use other cars to get them round the corner. It's so much better if you can pull away with a decent racer for competition, so many times you are pulling away and then the car behind you just doesn't brake at all for the corner and you go from 1st or 2nd to 7/8th in the blink of an eye. If you brake really early you can catch these players out sometimes and it's very amusing to see them hurtle past with no chance of stopping. |

Not a drifting fan myself. In fact it bores me to tears but if it comes up as someone's turn to chose then ill get on with it. Just probably not spend as much time as I would with a time trial.

http://youtu.be/nk9kZNZS-TY I know is personal preference but I find it easier with this game to use the chase cameras as you get a better view of what's coming up so easier to anticipate corners etc. I'd also recommend drafting any car in front of you in this challenge, especially from the start so you've got as much speed as possible into the first corner. You need to judge your braking so you can make it round the corner without drifting or hitting other cars so you can catch up with the rest of the pack at the next left corner. The speed and the first corner for me are critical for a good time on this challenge. It is also dependent on the other cars, that you can't help I afraid! |

I think you take some corners a bit wide. You lose a bit of time on each of them.

Even when challenge is over. Could we see a video Ian or lisa of a decent lap on it. I doubt I'll get back on before challenge is over unless I can grab a quick go this afternoon before going out

I don't think the view makes much odds, it's just what you're used to. Plus if you do the track often enough you know what's coming anyway.
As Yuffie said, you've taken a few a bit wide and lose a bit of time. I tend to split the lap into sections to judge how well I'm doing. ( and to know when to restart) Coming out of 1st red - 23.x Bridge at very top of lap - hitting it about 55 / 56 Coming out of yellow after long sweeping right hander - 1.21.x And then just keep going. If you hit that you'll do a 1.47 or 1:48. I have no **** clue how they're getting in the 1:45s. If Lisa or Ian want to share splits from a 1:45 I'd be interested to see them! |

I tend the judge the lap on what place I'm in. I know it's not an exact science but the more cars you can get past earlier on in the lap, the easier it will be. So I'll like to be 9th by the second corner (tho I'll accept a 10th) and I hope to pass two more by the next corner. By the time I get to the bridge I like to be past the red and orange car. Then do the best I can for the rest of the lap.

http://youtu.be/nk9kZNZS-TY I noticed you'd dropped right down into the 40s after braking into the 2nd corner, use the average speed face off in that area to keep track, you really need to be mid 60s at the end of that average zone. All through that area you need to pick your spots carefully for braking and overtaking, the speed you carry through there and straightish bit after should ideally see you overtaking 3rd or even 2nd on the downhill slope or cutting inside 2nd on the downhill hairpin. After that it's just time trialling the remainder and hoping the Caterham doesn't get in your way. 2nd corner 23s, downhill hairpin around 1:05, exit of the tight corner after the swooping right around 1:20. I base my lap on my position to the other cars, so I always know straight away if it's worth restarting or not. |

This is my problem also with the single player. My driving style....or lack of it keeps me back.

I'm driving this in manual and it seems to have help me improve my times a bit but I'm still no where near as most people here. One thing I am doing it starting the race in 2nd gear as it seems to me getting me off the line quicker that using 1st gear.

Oh you kept that quiet Ian!
![]() Well I concede defeat on this one. It's doing my head in now. I've got a time trial lap of Kobago I can upload for reference. |

Ok, first time creating a video in Share factory (basic!), and first time uploading to Youtube.
This is my best time. Admittedly no where near Lisa or Ian, and includes a fair bit of luck! http://youtu.be/7rECTvS0zWs |

I'm not really in a position to upload I youtube due mainly to my shocking broadband! A 2minute clip will take over 2hrs to upload, and I can't hog the internet for that long! Happy to stream if I can when on, although can't promise winning times all the time!
