At the moment Metacritic are showing a user score of 5.9 based on 582 votes.
Either way, I wouldn't trust it as an honest barometer of opinion. At least here we'd get a more honest opinion from people we're confident have actually played the game. |

I was so looking forward to this game at PS4 launch as I'd heard such good things about it but I'm seriously considering leaving it and waiting for Project Cars.
Anyone sell me on the idea of purchasing or convincing me that I'm right not bothering? |

We should it like wrestling and have teams of good guys that play buy the rules and bad guys that don't and swear at you with their headsets then guys can jump from one team to the next backstabbing their club members. It could be like a big soap opera.

Yeah. The issue there is the huge number of 0s and 1s which is just ludicrous. I'd have to question how many of those are Xbox zealots or self-entitled, spoiled brats. On the flip side, there's loads of 10s as well. Not sure if they're genuine or just a reaction to the low scores.
Either way, I wouldn't trust it as an honest barometer of opinion. At least here we'd get a more honest opinion from people we're confident have actually played the game. Turn 10 shouldn't have let it get to that though. They know their userbase is large and should have had the servers running from minute 1 with minimal issues. My copy arrived this afternoon. I'll make my own judgements. I'll give SP a blast. May leave it a bit before I try MP to let the servers settle down. |

Is it worth getting just for the single player option?

It will get harder and I will want to go back and get the rest but if you're just going to play the offline campaign then you'll be done in maybe two or three weeks. Buy it on disk if you're going single player only so you can trade it. |

For the most part the user scores on Metacritic are utterly pointless because too many idiots don't actually score the game, They score the system its on.

Played this a bit before bed last night, and my god does this thing look amazing! Photographic! Handlings good too. Not sure about the club side obviously with no online.
People talking about sony servers are talking rubbish too, its only sony as far as "arms length" goes. They were evo servers. Also you cant just add crap loads of servers and expect them to work! There is software too that has to scale well. When will poeple understand this basic fact of network?

unsure whether to get this or not, is it open world? or do you just choose a race from a screen?
also, the online mode, is there lots of different things to do or just race against online people? |

It is stunning looking. The first really next gen looking game. The AI cars are a bit clumsy to say the least. Forever whacking into me!

Update Quote:
We have just released another server update that has increased the number of players racing which is good news, but in order to keep building on these numbers we will be running further updates in the coming days that will affect availability of some of the online game features.
Some functions are temporarily unavailable including challenges and social updates, but for those of you that can connect, you will still be able to participate in clubs, leaderboards and online multiplayer races. This is in addition to the single player Tour mode, custom solo events and car customisation that are available even when you're not connected. We appreciate this isn't ideal but this is really the best way for us to improve server performance and online play for everybody, and we will be switching on these features as further progress is made. Thanks for bearing with us and sending us your supportive comments. Believe us, we know how frustrating this is for you and we are working non-stop to find the best solution to get you all connected and racing together online. |

Bit annoying that you can't replay a round within a championship if you miss out on a star, but instead have to redo the whole championship. Only a slight niggle though.
Up to level 15 now. Still yet to get lucky with the online servers. |

Up to level 15 now. Still yet to get lucky with the online servers. I had one online game earlier. It takes a lot of disconnecting before eventually getting connected so might just plow on with the single player for now. It gets hard tho. I'm beginning to struggle with a few races. |

I wonder if they're hoping by taking folks money like this they can then nick over to pc world over the weekend to buy a couple servers with the dosh.
Got to say if this is how games are going to work. Ie. They won't on release as not enough servers but just enough to cater for when the game settles down in a few weeks, then it does nothing for buying a game on release. Not just talking this game but any online game. |
