Now there's a more approriate candidate to host SPOTY

Yes, couldn't be nominated for the main SPOTY award, because not British.

I figured as much thanks . If he ( Novak aka Nole ) wasn't a world renowned tennisman, he should have been a comedian . I love him, he's hilarious and one heck of a player; he has tons of personality that one.

Why on earth would you want Andy Murray as a presenter on Strictly? He's completely unsuitable and not connected with the show in any way.

You cannot have Andy present anything without Girlfriend and Mum in the shot also. I think it's in the BBC rules or something. Perhaps they could seat them just behind where Brucie normally stands.

Haha nice one he does seem unable to do an interview without them there somewhere.

BBC 'Sports Personality Of The Year'

BIB Andy Murray

Not complaining about the sports bit.

Yes but Tess Daly was never associated with dancing before she joined SCD. Once Andy joins after a few weeks it will seem like he was always there

But he's not going to join. He's earning far too much on the tennis tours, apart from the BBC never even considering him.

They should really just call it 'Sports Person Of The Year' because that's closer to what it is.

Odd left field choice here - Andy Murray and SCD. It would be like making Emma Thompson the next England football manager or Richard Branson the next BBC weatherman or Boris Johnson the next Dr Who.

He has no presenting experience and I can't see anything in him that suggests he would be suitable for that sort of role. If anything he is viewed as rather wary of the media and a reluctant celebrity - maybe less so now than before but still a little bit. Added to that he has a successful career in another field which probably means a lot more to him given that he has dedicated most of his life to it. Sportsmen usually only move into media/showbiz once they retire and they usually only retire when injury forces them to or they can no longer compete at the same level as before.

Is he even interested in ballroom dancing?

Andy Murray? Excellent suggestion, but I know who should do it! Stuart Hall. He was great presenting It's a Knockout!

Yes, he'd be excellent on SCD. I'm sure he'd come out of retirement to do the show. It must be a bit boring being retired and just attending to his flower beds. Andy can look after his garden while Stuart does the show.

Methinks Stuart Hall has rather more important things on his mind at the moment!

Presumably you aren't keeping up with the news. Don't think Stuart Hall is tending his flower beds at the moment.

I think that he said that tongue in cheek, just to show how ludicrous the idea of Murray as a presenter was, unless he had a personality transplant.

always had higher things on his mind by the sound of it. If he was into adults they would have been even higher.

I not sure if you saw Andy win today in Valencia but it was a great performance. I think that shows what a great host of SCD he would make they way he never gave up today

I always love this thread! Yes of course Andy Murray should give up his multi-million pound tennis career and sponsorship deals to present a Saturday evening light-entertainment show about dance. It would be an amazing career move.

While we're at it, can we get Lewis Hamilton to do the Results show? I mean, he's won some formula one races,so he's perfectly qualified

I know you were only kidding, but for anyone unaware, like Andy Murray who's just won a tournament, Louis Hamilton is too busy at this time of the year.
It's the same with any active top sportsman, the commitment to Strictly in any capacity will be too great and the money would be comparatively peanuts. That's why we get, "Who?"

Yes I agree this year he is too busy but I think if the BBC can get him on board early he could re-arrange his schedule for next year

Great thread. Whatever happened to the poster who used to start lots of new threads each day?

Hopefully he got a life, found a woman, and is too busy for DS

One member who fits that description posted in someone's else thread a few days ago.

Well I pondered a while as to which F1 driver could move alongside Tess and the only guy
I could visualise there is,much to the delight of the OP I would imagine, is the Scot David Coulthard.

I think he OP has made a big mistake here since Bradley Wiggins is the sports personality of the year who should present Strictly. The union of mod and ballroom will be a marriage made in heaven.
