1. Where/how did I question the seller's authenticity?
2. If the seller is a professional fund-raising company, they will take their percentage of funds raised.
3. I wouldn't normally buy on eBay from someone with only 98.2% feedback. There are many sellers on eBay who are either dishonest or incompetent;
caveat emptor. I'm watching two clearly fraudulent auctions on eBay at the moment (nothing whatsoever to do with the seller we're discussing in this thread). I've alerted eBay to both of these auctions but, as so often happens, eBay has done nothing. I have both bought and sold quite a lot on eBay and have had no bad experiences. However, if you don't approach eBay with all your critical faculties working (your cynicism on red alert, if you like), you'll get scammed.
NB: I am not in any way implying that the seller red.nose.day is crooked. However, judging by some of their negative feedback, they don't seem to be particularly competent.
4. Don't be so naive as to imagine that just because something is a charity then it must be beyond criticism. Many professional fund-raisers make very comfortable livings; many "celebrities" who participate may well do so from good motives but many also seek to promote themselves by gaining favourable publicity.
