Galaxy S4 - Battery Issue?
I've had my Galaxy S4 since July and recently its been turning itself off as soon as it reaches about 50% battery and will not turn on again until it is plugged in, it also turns its mobile network off before it does so. Is this simply a case of having to replace the battery or is it something more serious? I've bought a replacement battery from the Samsung store so I hope so, has anyone else encountered this problem?

I would have got a replacement battery from Samsung under warranty (I guess you still could and have a spare).
Does sound like it could be the battery and also there are a lot of known faulty ones on the S4. Mark. |

OP, your battery is covered for 6 months under warranty. You've still got time. There is a known problem with some S4 batteries. My Son had a bad one, and I got a replacement free.
Call Samsung on UNITED KINGDOM 0330 726 7864 Monday - Saturday: 9am - 6pm Tell them you have a problem with the phone resetting after a certain amount of time and it gets hot, and you think it could be the battery. Tell them you've felt the battery and it feels "bowed" or expanded (curved). They should send you a replacement one. They will need your IMEI number of the phone. Dial *#06# to find it. They will need a copy of your receipt. Just take a photo of it using your phone and email it to them on the email address they give you. They will need the date you purchased it and where from. Hope this helps. |

I struggle to believe that Samsung would be allowed to sell a phone which can potentially start a fire tbh. It happens. |

Indeed.
All lithium ion batteries have the potential to start a fire. It's a calculated risk. There've been reports of exploding batteries in Samsungs, iPhones, Sony laptops, Macbooks, Boeing 787 dreamliners, and just about everything else with a battery in it. |

Its not as if they deliberately sold a phone with a faulty battery is it? These things do happen and have happened with all phone makes.... indeed... potential life/serious injury faults have come to light on thousands of cars and have had to be recalled to have work done to stop brakes failing or fires.
