BT WiFi (away from the home)
Could anyone tell me how many devices can be logged onto BT WiFi at any one time when AWAY from home and can they all use the same account log-in information - username and password.
Thanks. |

I am not aware that there are any restrictions on the number of devices that can be connected to BT wifi - if you use the same login and password.
Why not ask BT. http://www.productsandservices.bt.co...?topicId=30549 However I would not rely on BT wifi for mobile internet access - its hopeless. I could never get a regular connection that worked on the move its hit and miss - so better to use wifi in cafes/hotels or cellular (if you are in the UK). |

Thanks for that, yes I can believe it's unlimited when you say it's crap, personally I refuse to have anything to do with any company that has the word "British" in it, some friends have B.T. and asked the question.

It's not supposed to work "on the move", it's wifi hotspots so there wont be continuous coverage. If you're somewhere in range of a hotspot it works absolutely fine.

And there is an app which shows you were the nearest and best BT wi-fi hotspots are and takes care of logging in for you. I can park up near most any group of houses and get a hit.
But as said, like any wi-fi system not suitable for on the move continuous access. |

So it would appear there is no limit to the number of users who can log-on at any one time and of course for "Hot Spot" just think home WiFi range.
Thank you. |

Just watch if you use the BT app that automatically connects, soon you'll be told you are using it too much...

I've never managed to get logged in to it. It always says my broadband does not include but I know that it does. I've got AYCE with my mobile so just tether these days.

You are allowed 166 hours BT WiFi use a month before it disconnects you every 30 minutes. You aren't never not allowed to use it.
I use it about once a week and as stated the app does it all for you. I've found it quite handy and there seem to be loads of spots available. |

I use it several days a week while out delivering in the van. I find it best to park up near a group of houses (next to a garden wall or blind wall I should add) to get a decent chance of finding a good connection. Listen to radio programmes like The Archers on iPlayer as well as general browsing. Very rarely do I use it for streaming TV programmes although that may change once the bike racing starts up again.

I use BT wifi a great deal (at least 30 hours every week) when I am looking after my 92 year old mother, who does not have broadband at her bungalow.
The connection there is only 1 or 2 bars at best but I can normally log in with no problems and it never disconnects. My 2 grandaughters both use my log in on their Ipads when they are out and about, so the total weekly usage of BT Wifi on my account must be quite high but BT have never threatened to restrict my usage. I only moved to BT Infinity to gain access to their Wifi and I am glad that I did because I find that the app works well and it gets me online at no extra cost when I am away from home. Prior to joining BT I had Sky Fibre Broadband but their "Cloud" wifi is only available in certain commercial premises. I used to have to drive 2 miles from my mother's place and sit outside the pub to get online! |
