The results are shocking, to some extent. It's not shocking that the Top 2 is occupied by the same two acts, but there were many revelations after that. Which one shocked you the most and why?

Tamera. It's not really a shock but it's the most pushed contestant of the series by far.

No one really liked her but they kept leading us to believe that she was the next Rihanna and a contender and always putting her late in the running order.

That despite having the pre teen vote Sam C was near the bottom of the voting every week.

Sorry. The poll took forever lol

Sam C's struggle didn't shock me tbh. Montage pre-lives + teen competition in the form of Luke and Nicky (remember that!!!) + general stitching up = ta-da!

Tamera actually did better than I thought, otherwise no surprises. I thought it was possible Nick might have won a week or two after week 6, but I am not shocked he didn't.

Im not really shocked by the results. I am pleased that Hannah, Rough Copy and Luke all came 3rd, behind Sam/Nicholas, several times each. Luke was really low to start with but did really well the last two weeks, Hannah had more erratic journey - Im glad to see she did have support alot of the time but a couple weeks that completely drops, I'd be interested to look at what songs she had those weeks. Rough Copy started strong but lost a bit of support.

The most shocking this is the vote freeze on week3(?) - Sam C is in the bottom 2 but then gains votes overnight and Hannah drops a couple of places and ends up in the bottom two - Sam C was only 0.1% more so frustrating as he would have probably gone once in the B2 and Hannah shouldnt have been there.

Tamera never did that well, Im glad that Hannah did best out of the girls, I do think Tamera's tabloid stories really damaged her popularity- girls vote and they wont have liked what they read, its a shame as she never had a chance after that.

That Nick's vote held up and remained very close to Sam's, even through the deramping right up until the ridiculously biased Sunday show.

I wouldn't say that. The other act in the B2 was Miss Dynamix, who needed to be kicked out because of the fourth member. Remember that this was before the Relight My Fire drama.

I think it says a lot about how little votes we've had this year. Apparently, Sam only got 1M votes this weekend.

The fact that it was VERY WIDE OPEN until the end reinforces the idea that unlike the last few years, there was no "winning moment" this year.

1M does seem very low. I wonder how the winner's single is going to do in terms of sales.

And actually, just how few votes did the supposedly marketable acts get, given the vote tends to be way bigger for the final? Are we sure it wasn't that she beat Nicholas by 1M votes? That would be more in line with voting figures for previous years, no? I'm sure at times it's hit around 5M

The voting numbers have obviously plummeted in a similar fashion to the viewing figures, although more dramatically. I believe there were 6 million votes cast in the 2009 final. I think the most obvious thing to conclude is that the casual audience voting was non existent this year and that it was just the Mum/Granny/Old dear core voting every week, explaining why the girls did so badly and why Nicholas/Sam B dominated. This is only going to get worse unless they take the majority influence of the vote from the public. Sam B/Nick have flop written all over them, if Nick even gets a record contract in the first place. The loss of the casual audience voting in this show is VERY bad news for the prospects of future contestants outside of the generic, bland ballad crooning bubble. And the rest of us by extension. I see a future of talented, creative contestants struggling to win votes while utter rubbish future Nicholas' and Sam B's of XF11/12/13 romp to victory.

No, Dermot said "over 1M people voted for Sam" or something like that.

What I understood is that she won with over 1M votes, not by. News outlets seem to agree with me.

I voted 'Other'. The biggest surprise for me was that the Saturday night vote was so close between the 3 of them.

Go Luke!

There was an option for that Makes me feel bad, knowing that Luke just missed out.

The competition was very close at the top in the last few weeks.

Hannah had two strong bounces.

The trends were more or less predictable.

Sam routed Nicholas on Sunday.

Abi never really got a sympathy boost; she just slid away.

Yeah, I considered using that option, but it wasn't so much the 'last few weeks' as the Saturday night that really surprised me.

The shock for me was Kingsland Road being bottom of the flash vote - don't think anyone saw that coming

And Shelley going through

Luke was so near to coming second over all

How close it was in the last few weeks. I thought Sam would be running away with it tbh, when there wasnt really too much in it

It was all pretty much as I expected, really dull.

Though, so as not to be boring, I was surprised Luke was so far ahead of Rough Copy in the final 4, especially after all of Rough Copy's bragging about how the final would be boring without them.

No shocks really, I knew who the Top 2 were and agreed, the voice really still is the most important part (even if they have us believe its the X Factor)

The voting for Tamera just backs up what Ive always said, Melanie McCabe was robbed this year. (yes ive moved on) They pushed and shoved Tamera in our faces as the 2nd coming but she was very average, didn't really care and made a farce of the opportunity presented to her

All my opinion of course and nothing will change.....
