I have a 40in Samsung smart TV which i can see dark lines from top to bottom of screen.

its a new TV and i can really only see these dark line on something that is green on screen.

for some reason they only show up while watch football and can see them while watching cricket as well and they are dead straight dark line .

i would say there are 4 or 5 which i can see so what could be causing this and is this normal on LED screens?

I'm afraid it sounds like 'Banding'. It's a flaw in the processing that produces the lines.

I had it on an LG TV, especially when panning during football.

Depending on how bad it is you can get it repaired or replaced.
