Not sure if its a real word or not, but Duetists and duets...

There are some great examples out there that often get overlooked, but a duet sung well can be something very special and this is no exception.

As it's nearly Christmas, Bing Crosby & Rosemary Clooney http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmNzLlxxnNk

Probably one of the best known screen couples of all time Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald...

Nelson Eddy was a trained opera singer who went into film, where Jeanette MacDonald started in film and then at the height of her career retrained for opera. The debate over whether they were lovers off screen still runs on to this day. The public line was that they couldn't stand each other in private... smoke screen? Who knows. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xpKeabZlEs

While I'm in a Bing mood, one of my all time favourites and I believe the only record Grace Kelly was ever credited on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElTt6vUZPYk One of the most beautiful women ever seen on screen too in my opinion.

My next one is Max Bygraves and Judith Durham - My Happiness, it's a shame they didn't sing more together http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyLxRQ5S3xw

Following on from Judy...

A very early duet featuring her and Deanna when they were both 15. Judy being about 6 months younger. All though their careers ran in parallel this on one of the very few times they performed together and the only one I'm aware of captured on film... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boz3a9NlPHY

Yeah, they both joined MGM at the same time and is part of the reason for Judy's insecurities as she always felt like the ugly duckling particularly when compared to Deanna. Judy was always beautiful and such talent but destroyed by the Hollywood machine

Deanna signed with universal whereas Judy stayed with MGM... It was always alleged that MGM got rid of the wrong girl through a mix-up in communications. The contrast in the way they handled their careers couldn't be greater with Deanna famously walking away from it all never to make another film or appear on stage again despite being offered what was in those days a huge sums to change her mind. And of course she lived to a ripe old age... It's such a shame that both for different reasons were lost to the public far too soon and what a pity we didn't see more of them working together...

One of the things that separates a great harmony group from the rest is that all the members are excellent singers in their own right.

Here's a little collection of the Lennon sisters dueting with other people...

Dianne Lennon & Larry Dean - You're Just In Love http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4Mh06lcydM

Peggy Lennon & Dick Dale - In The Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cBw9EAHhmc Peggy was always my favourite...

Kathy Lennon, Steve Smith - Somethin' Stupid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCeyICDJBe0

Janet Lennon - Annie Doesn`t Live Here Anymore http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKQ1Dx5At14
