Yes, some years ago and I've still got the scars to prove it.

Trod on her foot a couple of times - the screeching yowl was a shocker
I've learnt to assume she is always 'under my feet' and never to walk anywhere in the house without the light on

yes lots of times, I have very bad sight without my glasses and dont wear them in the shower obviously, the cat is obsessed with the shower and so will lurk around and not move when you're trying to step over her, in addition to having a dark cat and a black bathroom mat, the tail is often not seen by my mr magoo eyes, cue a yowling cat like Ive murdered her and guilty me.

He still 'loves me' though.

In nearly a decade I think I've done it twice. And that's because he's decided to sit right behind me while I'm cooking!

He screeches and I apologise and offer cuddles and a treat to make up for it, but still feel very bad. They seem to recover....

Yes, and the cat actually screams just as loud as it does when they are about to have a fight with another cat!

I was shocked whilst watching the red chair segment on The Graham Norton show this weekend.

A previously very overweight woman told the tale of the first time that she visited her boyfriend at his parents house. He was just finishing his evening meal,so she was shown into the drawing room and told to take a seat. As she nervously sat down on the sofa, there was a loud crack. She had inadvertently sat on their cat and broke it's back!!!

I have accidentally stood on their tail.

The noise they make is shocking

They seem to get over it provided there is no damage.

I give them a hug and a feed, then all is fine

To the person who asked me for proof, it's at the end of this programme:

It is a shocking noise, you'd think that the world was about to end!

You're right though, if you say sorry and fuss the cat, they seem to soon get over it. Mine was soon rubbing against me in an affectionate way- I wonder if cats know about the concept of accidents and/or apologies

' I wonder if cats know about the concept of accidents & or apologies '
Yes they do.
Back in February I tripped over one of our cats & fell ,breaking my hip.
When I was back out of hospital & mobile again, the cat would follow me
Even walking alongside me on the beach.
It was if, she wanted to be sure I was safe

Awww, so do you think that she knew that she had caused the accident and was trying to make amends by keeping an eye on you?

Yes, accidents happen. I always feel terrible about it, but they seem to forgive me much sooner than I forgive myself, usually I just go and apologise by fussing them for a bit.

My cat is always getting in the way and yes I have trod on her tail and sometimes paws, but then I fuss and give her treats. Maybe that is why she gets under my feet.
