BB1 - original and best.

I think the HMs who've gone in since BB1 have been so much more 'knowing' and are doing it for their five minutes of fame, whereas the original 10 people were doing it more for the experience - they didn't know if anyone would watch it/if the program would be a success.

BB3. It's been downhill all the way since then. Can't see it going any other way now.

BB3 by a mile.

Highest ratings, highest earnings, most entertaining.

BB2! Everything about it was just so perfect. BB3 a close second. The house location swung it BB2's way.

1. BB2 - it had everything, comedy, romance, arguments - and genuinely likeable HM's - I really missed it when it finished especially as it was the first series to be shown with live streaming on E4

2. BB1 - because it was the original and a novelty

3. BB3 - would have been higher but for Jade

4. CBB3 - diverse mix of HM's

5. BB5 - too many nasty people and nobody I actually liked

6. CBB1 - madness and comedy

7. CBB2 - HM's were far too bland

8. BB4 - joke from start to finish and capped off by that Scottish fish boy fool winning it

It would have to be BB1 as it was new to TV.

BB2 watched it nearly all the time.

After that we all knew we were being manipulated, but continued to watch.

Have to say BB5 even 'tho the 'editing' was astonishing.

Loved CBB3, was excellent. Let's hope the one this year is as good.
It would be if Endemol stopped mucking about with it .

Until recently, I'd have said something similar, or I might have gone for BB1 or 2, for the same sort of reasons others have given.

But seeing some clips from the earlier shows a while back has brought back some memories and made me rethink.

Now I would say BB5 followed by BB4.

BB3 was ruined by Jade, Jonny, and PJ. We're still paying a big price for the popularity of that show. Jade must be planning to release a single soon. She's done just about everything else celebs do to keep themselves in the public eye. BB3's also, indirectly, given us Jeff B.

Every time I see anything from BBs 1 or 2, I cringe. Apart from a few housemates, those shows were boring rubbish mixed with irritation.

I've never thought the confrontation with "Nasty Nick" was interesting. Oooh, he wrote names on paper

BB2 had "Helenisms", but you didn't need to watch to get those. Bubble regularly had me turning off the tv, and I never found Brian very entertaining.

BB4 seemed more boring than it was, because of the contrast with BB3. It also had a very poor ending, with a boring final 3. The voting public must be blamed for it's "vote out the girls" agenda, and for keeping in tactical bores Scot and Cameron, as well as natural bore Steph.

But apart from that, it was not so bad. There were no show-runing irritations, though Fed tried his best, and Justine might have qualified if she'd stayed in. On the plus side, it had Jon, Gaetano, Lisa Two-Fingers, Tania's tendency to put on makeup even in the dark, and was more interesting most nights than early-to-bed BB5. It had a pool rather than the irritating "spa".

I know the BB4 HMs concluded that the voting public had a 'vote out the girls' agenda and, obviously, I can see why they reached that conclusion, but I don't believe that was really the case. I think it was simply that there were several very irritating HMs in BB4 who happened to be female.

1 BB2 ( see moogester's post above, can't improve on that)

2 BB3, kept me watching

3 CBB2, I seem to be the only person who liked it and it was my introduction to the forum

4 CBB3, good mix, got a bit boring towards the end

5 CBB1, short and snappy

6 BB1. Enjoyed it, but compared to the others suffered hugely from no E4, we basically just didn't see much of it.

7 BB4 The first completely duff BB, start of the 'why am I watching this?'

8 BB5 Completely uninteresting, start of 'is there anything else on?'

Looks like it's all downhill from around BB3 onwards

I think there's more to it than that, and the only one who was very irritating was Justine.

Of course, there had to be a reason why voters were voting out the girls, and I don't think they consciously thought anything as simple as "she's female, get her out". Perhaps what they thought was "she's very irritating". But the result was girls being voted out whenever there was a chance.

I can't agree with your assessment. I also found Anouska and Sissy extremely irritating, and it would appear that the voting public did too. Of course, the result was the same - an unfortunate (some would say) male/female imbalance. It's just that I would attribute it to the producers' choice of HMs rather than any agenda on the viewers' part.

BB5 had me totally gripped from start to finish. I had it on all the time (except when I was asleep - obviously). Yes - I'm sad. I know.

I liked BB3, BB4 and BB5 for different reasons.

BB3 was electric. So many memorable moments:

Jade and Adele's fight night (Adele should have knocked her head off)
Alex singing
The bullying of Sophie (not nice viewing but fascinating turn around from Jade after she got the gist from the shrink and the producers that the viewers hated her)
Jade & PJ
Jade in the nude after a drunken night
The division of rich and poor separated by the bars

Absolute class and my number 1. The forum was electric too

BB4
Jon Tickle
Federico
Cameron (Fix)
Lisa (I can kill you with these two fingers)

BB5

The blatant editing of Jason
Michelle & Emma in the secret room
Fight night
Stu & Michelle under the table
Michelle as a mad obsessive stalker
The selective winner (love her or hate her - definitely the producers choice)
The first truly transparent biased editing since the Cameron & Jon Tickle fiasco

CBB - not a big fan and have no particular fave.

BB1

- after the drama of the first nominations and eviction I was hooked, lots of great tense moments and a fab climax

BB2

- such different housemates to BB1 and so much more funny, I think I liked every character in the house apart from Stuart and this has been the best house so far too, they put this show together very well and with the live streaming we got to see a whole new side to it

BB3

- I thought this one wasn't going to work at first with them all sitting around with nothing to do for the first few weeks and housemates leaving and escaping but it was just a late starter, all the characters started to take off properly after that and they seemed to be arguing every five minutes in this one, I loved all the accusations of playing to the cameras and being false and fake flying around and I have to say, I liked the idea of the bars too and the forums made this one too as there were all sorts of Alex, Kate, Jonny, Jade, Adele camps

BB5

- it was like the reverse to BB3, climaxed too soon and then went flat for a long time, the other housemates knowing there was a bedsit because of Davina's slip-up spoiled things a bit, the two of them going into that bedsit that night was hysterical to watch though, and then fight-night sort of changed them all for a long time just as it was getting more and more entertaining, it's a shame, it could have been a lot better, the final was still great

CBB3

- the best of the celeb BB's in my opinion because of the mix of hm's although I don’t really think of the celeb versions as proper BB’s, I prefer complete strangers, ordinary members of the public suddenly flung under the microscope

CBB1

- Vanessa Feltz was probably the only one who was herself in there, the others were so phoney, mind you we did have the first escape attempt in this series, now it seems like the done thing every series for one of them to climb on the roof

BB4

- I actually taped a few episodes of this for some reason but soon stopped when I realised that nothing was happening, I came across it still on one of my tapes the other day and it looked like gardener's world or something, there really was no footage for the producers to fill a 30 minute show with or was it 50 minutes? I'm sure they had a longer show that year, they must have been pulling their hair out, it wouldn't surprise me if the evacuation was planned to add some drama to the show, all the other gimmicks they used in this one like sending a housemate to Africa and voting a housemate back in, they seemed to be making up as they went along to try to save it

CBB2

- awful, the bloke from Take That sitting alone crying when he won, it was for charity you idiot, you’d only been in there a week, only about 3 people phoned in
