New surround sound system ideas?
Hi all
I am looking at new surround sound systems to buy and wondered if anyone had any ideas? I really like the idea of Bose their top of the range system is awesome (and I have tested it in the shop loads) but at 3K it is just too expensive for me. I am tempted to go to Richer Sounds and ask for their opinion, but I am always wary of going there and giving them a budget as I am never sure that I am getting the best I can afford. Does anyone have any suggestions as to makes / models of system and speakers which I can use for general music (2 decks set up) but also for 5.1 surround (as I am a big movie lover). Any suggestions would be much appreciated All the best JB |

Ideally £1k but £1.5 would be the absolute max.
Any ideas would be much appreciated. All the best |

I'd still pop down Richers to listen to Onkyos, Denons, Yamahas and various speakers. Unless you've got an independent hi-fi shop near you. Speakers sound very different so you'll have to listen to some to see which you prefer.

You do know BOSE is an acronym for "Buy Other Sound Equipment"?
![]() All the Bose systems I have heard have frankly been rubbish for the amount of money they charge. Certainly would not describe them as premium brand by any means. I got my system from these people http://www.creative-audio.co.uk/ And you'll notice they do some of the better brands, but not Bose ![]() Something like this http://www.creative-audio.co.uk/HD.p...YS&ID=7443&ns= Would come in around your budget. |

If you can get into Exeter, go see These people.
Friend of mine in Exeter recommends them. |

Thanks for all of your help! I am going to bite the bullet and take a trip to Richer Sounds and let them know my budget (well, under my budget) and see what they can offer.
Point taken re Bose! I shall let you know what I end up buying. All the best |

Yeah I would wipe Bose off the list straight away. Overpriced and disappointing.
A separates system is the way to go. Richersounds do the best package deals around too - well matched in most cases aswel... http://www.richersounds.com/products...bundle-deals#6 |
