We've a good thread going about the best choreographer, so thought I'd start one for the worst.

My choices would be :

Pasha - for not understanding Rachel's limitations, and choreographing accordingly.

Artem - for blatantly choreographing showdances instead of proper routines.

Iveta - for choreographing ridiculous jokey routines which didn't give Mark a dancing chance.

I strongly disagree with Iveta. She has been a revelation this serie imo and has emerged as one of the best choreographer this year imo. It's not her fault that she was imposed those awful themes but she dealt with them pretty well (except the Paso and rumba).

Sadly artem, then alliyash

Brendan for me. Controversial, I know but he didn't choreograph that charleston and choreographing someone so it's ok to be a mannequin and wooden is copping out as far as I'm concerned. But then I would say Brendan, he irritates the life out of me, especially this year.

Kristina for choreographing amazing and athletic routines for herself and only teaching Ben to catch, lift and throw her!

what about quickstep and vw?

Artem for his boring swishy nonsense. At least be interesting if you're going to break the rules!

Ola and Kristina are both pretty awful in general. Pasha really missed the mark with Rachel this year.

I'm going to be semi-controversial here and say that Mark was a crap dancer. He had rhythm, but his technique was always bad. The joke routines probably helped to make him popular and they him around for quite a long time.

What about them? QS was good, not groundbreaking and was too quick, he looks like he's dragging her in ballroom, he needs to choreograph to hide her weaknesses and I hate VW so I can't even remember their routine. AS was good though.

Every single Latin that he has choreographed has been yucky, including paso and rumba. That jive was appalling, and cha cha and samba weren't a whole lot better. The choreography just didn't suit Sophie, she looked uncomfortable and a large part of choreo ability for me is learning about your partner and what works for them and what doesn't. He still doesn't seem to have a clue. Kevin, for all I have to say about him, has at least learned what Susanna can do well and incorporates it into her routines - fast spins for example.

Choreographing a routine so that Sophie gets to be wooden is not great choreography for me.

He didn't choreograph charleston and AT so won't comment on them.

And now look, you made me rant when I wasn't going to. Sorry.

Robin : I still can't get over that table VW and that jive

Artem : do I need to say more ? And I've always considered him as one of the best choreographer on this show but he really missed the memo this year so far imo.

Pasha : do I need to say more ?

Kristina for giving Ben very little to do at Times.

Kevin. For not working within Susanna's ability and strengths, then his over dancing makes her look worse. Susanna can manage to dance well, when the choreography matches her strengths. Just far too often it is lost with Kevin hogging the camera to deflect attention.

I agree with your first two, but not with Iveta simply because I don't believe she had much choice over some of her routines. I could be wrong, but I suspect the producers were responsible for the stupid costumes, music and themes because Mark was the comedy turn (along with Dave).

Got there verbatim before me.

But Ben was a cupboard imposed on her so she had no choice.

Agree. I think Iveta made a decent sort of purse out of Mark, and the dross 'sows ear' she was given to do re music and theme.

I think the way Mark was treated, and his guarded openness about it woke me up to how Strictly really works.

Artem. Ballroom showdances for weeks got very boring very quickly.

You will not come for Iveta, though. She's a serious dark horse in the choreography stakes. But Karen is due a ringer, so I reckon it'll be a little while before we are exposed to Ivetamazing.

I worry that Iveta will be given the no hopers because she can actually deal with them.

Pasha got a bit of a no hoper in Rachel, although she looked like she could be AMAZING, and he was seriously not good with her.

I think we get that you don't like Brendan but in fairness I believe that many of the pros have had help with choreography.

And the mannequin was inspired as for me he was giving critics the finger.

I've got to be honest, I'm not sure many of the pros have covered themselves in glory this year. Robin has only his own choreography to blame for Deborah's early exit, Pasha only realised how to cope with Rachel's limitations when it was too late (Kevin has had similar problems and his overdancing only emphasises Susanna's faults), Artem's refused to follow the rules for no clear reason with limited results, Kristina didn't give Ben anything to do if she could help it and I'm heartily sick of Ola's latin choreography.

Any ballroom number Brendan, Anya or Aljaz have come up with has been great though. And I also want to give special mention to Mark & Iveta's waltz, which played to Mark's strengths perfectly and was a proper dance in a week that was filled with faffing and props.

Good point, Iveta already has the "safe pair of hands" about her. A bit like Robin - except Iveta would never inflict Miss Funnity Fun Fun Thundersplits on us.

Pasha could've scaled back with Rachel and pushed her a bit further. He was far too ambitious. After two relative ringers and Rachel, he's due a duffer next year I reckon.

Yes, his comment about how lovely it was to dance the Foxtrot without any funny stuff (words to that effect) were very telling - I felt for him then.

If he gets one, I hope he learns.

Pasha and Artem havent' had to deal, as the old pros have, and haven't delivered well enough, in my opinion.

Experience is more important than 'bring the next pretty face' to keep the interest up.

I think you are being a bit unfair to Ben, given his hearing problems. It can't have been easy for him to count in his head all the time because he couldn't hear the music properly during the live show.

Rachel was the worst woman by far in the opening celeb routine for the series. Dave levels of crap. She might not be a duffer in the classical sense, and I don't think that Pasha did particularly good work with the choreography, but she was still a test even if she was young and pretty.

Artem DID have Fern, to be fair. Managed some decent dances, too. Pasha hasn't been tested in that respect.

I've got a funny feeling about Alijaz, though. He's capable of magic and I hope he stays on.
