BBC iPlayer freezing
This is happening almost every night now. I go to start a programme after 11pm and not only does the programme fail to start, it freezes the entire box to the extent that I can only shut it down by pulling out the power lead.
Before anyone suggests it, this isn't anything to do with TalkTalk throttling the speeds at night, as I checked via my PC. |

No, it's something to do with iPlayer. I have downloaded HD films from the TalkTalk Box Office and they never froze. iPlayer does almost every time. My connection speed is 11-12 Mbps at any time of day or night.

My connection speed's higher than that and it's still happening. It can only be resolved by using the power off button.

There are still glitches in what we can download from the Net. If I watch a one hour programme on a downloaded Sky channel, I can more or less guarantee that it will freeze, so that I have to switch to another channel and back to get it going again, once. Obviously recording cannot be enabled until that has been ironed out or nothing will ever be recorded right through. Hopefully, the software update that finally sorts that out will also sort out the iPlayer.

Had to pull the plug out again last night when iPlayer froze at the beginning of a programme. What made it worse was that the box was scheduled to record a programme within five minutes and it feels as if it takes about half an hour to get back into action after a forced shut down.

It happened again last night and for some reason seems to affect programmes on iPlayer in the Factual section. I don't know if it's because these tend to be longer in duration and therefore bigger files, but it is gradually becoming not fit for purpose. Connection speed is not an issue.

Have had this problem since we have had the Talktalk Youview package. As barbeler said at present it's not fit for purpose. It does indeed tend to be the programmes in the Factual section.
