Currys and PC World have slashed £80 off the price of their Advent Vega Tegra Note 7 tablet giving you 1p change from £100 reports Pocket Lint. It has pretty good specs with only the screen (1280x800) and front camera (VGA) being less than great but for the money it seems a real challenger for best budget tablet.

I looked into this when they were first claimed to be available. None of our local stores had any in stock, none had any on display.

If they can be found for that price, they've gone from being one of THE fastest tablets on the market to having by far and away the most bang for the buck of anything around.

I don't know if the code is still valid but some people have been getting a further 10% off recently with the code VEGA10

I've seen ... but when I say "found at that price" I mean actually in stock. None of our local stores had any, and as a result I bought 2 Hudls instead.

Am I missing something or can't you just buy it on the website and get it delivered?

You probably could, but I'm a little old fashioned and liked the idea of actually seeing and feeling the device prior to buying. And as none of the stores had any in stock or on display, that wasn't possible.

As it stands, the Hudls have turned out to be excellent. They comprehensively whup my 2012 N7 on performance, have no regrets in buying them.

Bought this for the wife for Xmas - looks to be great value for the price. Xmas delivery on any orders up to 2pm online, but it seemed all my local Currys stores had this in stock to buy in store.

All the reviews I've seen of it under the various international brands are very positive. Quite a few have it outperforming the Nexus 7 2013 in many areas (sound, speed, expansion options) and that's now twice the price of the Tegra Note 7 in the UK.

Yes it's gone back up to £129.99 by the look of it

I wonder if it's because the pre-christmas delivery window is closed, maybe they'll knock it back down in the January sales.

The only "negative" I've seen on the reviews is on the screen resolution but is this something the average user is going to notice ? I'm thinking of getting me a 7" andriod tablet and mainly my uses will be web browsers, some games, social media and watching movies via Netflix and the like. So would I be write in thinking I'm not really going to notice the difference ?

Depends on what the average user does? For most tasks - gaming, browsing, watching movies - won't make a blind bit of difference.

Having compared the 1280x800 screen on my N7 to the 1440x900 screen on the Hudls, the extra resolution was only of any use while reading comics. Less need to zoom. And sure, text can be a teeny bit clearer, but not by any truly useful amount.

Go for it - nothing came close to its gaming performance at £180, so at £130 its insanely good vfm.

Yes higher resolution on phones and tablets means sharper clearer text and graphics, not more 'room' on screen. It's not displayed the same as it is on a PC monitor as you wouldn't be able to read the text on ultra high res phones, it would just be too tiny!

I have a 7" tablet that's 720p like this one. The text is clear and sharp. It's much better than my laptop in fact.

Managed to get one at £99 from web pick up at store. The guy told me they only had a few left. So far been quite happy. It streams SD no problem. I struggle a little with HD but that is probably down to my poorish broadband.

It certainly surfs web very well with very little pauses that my old medion tablet did frequently.

It updated itself to 4.2.2 and seem stable. Picture is ok for most viewing but seems a bit fuzzy on ITV player (I know on freeview ITV often used a lower resolution to get more channels - are they doing same on itv player?). BBC player seems fine.

I have been streaming from CBS using overplay.net smart DNS on my router and tablet works fine.

I found autorotate a bit fierce and switch it off downloading a manual control app instead.

Overall speed outweighs its minor failings. Good value.

Screen is absolutely gorgeous! Picture is sharp and bright and the responsiveness is amazing. What a beast of a tablet at £99. Wouldn't swap this for a Nexus 7 2013. Fantastic bit of kit.

Even at £129 it is well worth it. SD card, HDMI out. Pay no attention to people knocking the screen resolution or the 1gb of ram instead of 2gb. It is extremely powerful and will breeze through everything you throw at it.

If I had paid £200 for it I would not have been disappointed, put it that way.

I have it, its the fastest android device out there I think, very fast and snappy, also very responsive to touch.

Wouldn't describe the screen as gorgeous, its on par with 2012 nexus 7 but not as good as 2013 nexus.

For 100 sterling, it was a great buy

Very happy with mine. Yes ITV player is often very heavily/badly compressed compared to i-player.

ITV Player isn't as good as iplayer full stop, no matter what machine you're viewing it on.
